Über

This is "emacs.ch", a mastodon instance for the #Emacs community and #GNU #FOSS
enthusiasts. Everyone is welcome, even #Vim users!

We share Emacs tips and news here and you'll encounter some well-known Emacs
faces here.

In addition, this instance is fully integrated in Fediverse and may be used for
personal and general purposes. The general tone is inspirational and
encouraging. Posting about politics and religion is discouraged, but not
prohibited. In general, anything that is not explicitly forbidden is allowed
(see server rules). We also have some bots that keep you up to date with the
Emacs community on the web (e.g. MELPA updates and various RSS feeds). You are
also welcome to run your own bots as long as they are related to the theme of
the server.

The whole thing is run and paid for privately by the instance owner, an #Emacs
fan like you, and user donations. He expects nothing from you, except that you
feel comfortable here and make a few valuable friends.

The server is currently hosted in Helsinki, Finland and has plenty of resources.
There are daily backups for seven days. There is no tracking and your data will
not be shared. We run the Mastodon Glitch edition with extended features and
update ever 2 weeks. Should anything change in the operation of the server, we
will give you at least three months notice to find a new home in Fediverse.
