Children can experience the beauty of indigenous Australian art with the Yarong
Mulei’ Sandhills Rug, designed by Kombumerri and Butchulla artist, Zowie
Baumgart. Perfect for creating a comfortable environment for children to play,
learn and explore. The Yarong Mulei’ Sandhills rug is a wonderful resource for
play-based learning areas and for children to engage, connect to the stories and
in turn, spark conversation.

This beautiful rug measures 2 metres in diameter, made from an 8mm nylon loop
pile with non-slip thermoplastic rubber backing. Not only is the Yarong Mulei’
Sandhills rug practical, it also promotes cultural awareness for children to
further their learning about Indigenous Australia. These stunning rugs honour
indigenous owned businesses, local artistic talent and the continued respect for
our Traditional Land Owners. Profits from each item sold helps to directly
support the artist.

 

The Story Behind the Design

‘This piece represents the sandhills that Zowie grew up playing on Minjerribah
(North Stradbroke Island)’.

To clean the rug, spot wash with warm soapy water using a damp cloth or soft
brush and air dry. The rugs can also be professionally steamed cleaned. Vacuum
regularly.
