[Quick Recap: The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) For The U.S.
Declined In July, Future Growth Facing Headwinds] The Conference Board Leading
Economic Index (LEI) For The U.S. Fell By 0.6% In July, Following A Decline Of
0.2% In June. It Was Expected To Decrease 0.3%. "The LEI Continues To Fall On A
Month-Over-Month Basis, But The Six-Month Annual Growth Rate No Longer Signals
Recession Ahead," Said A Senior Manager At The Conference Board. "In July,
Weakness Was Widespread Among Non-Financial Components. A Sharp Deterioration In
New Orders, Persistently Weak Consumer Expectations Of Business Conditions, And
Softer Building Permits And Hours Worked In Manufacturing Drove The Decline,
Together With The Still-Negative Yield Spread."

Rate Cut] August 20 - The Road Ahead To The European Central Bank's 2%

Rehn, Governor Of The Bank Of Finland, On Monday. He Noted That There Are No
Clear Signs Of Recovery In The Manufacturing Sector And That The Slowdown In
Industrial Production May Not Be As Temporary As Assumed. The Recent Increase In
Negative Growth Risks In The Euro Area Has Reinforced The Case For A Rate Cut At
The Next ECB Monetary Policy Meeting In September, Provided That Disinflation Is
Indeed On Track.

【BRN analyst: Financial markets are waiting for Powell's speech, Bitcoin
volatility may rise in the next few days】BlockBeats news, August 19, according
to The Block, BRN analyst Valentin Fournier said, "Bitcoin volatility may rise
in the next few days or week as the market awaits further announcements from the
Federal Reserve at the Jackson Hole Symposium and the release of macroeconomic
indicators."Fournier mentioned that the open interest in Bitcoin futures
increased before the Jackson Hole meeting. He added: "The increase in open
interest may be related to investors' expectations of possible profits if the
announcement is positive."According to Fournier, the broader financial market is
cautiously waiting for Powell's speech at Jackson Hole on Friday, looking for
clues about the Fed's possible decision at next month's policy meeting. He
added: "Powell's speech may announce the Fed's first interest rate cut, and we
still believe that (Bitcoin) prices will rise to $65,000 and $67,000 before a
new decline."

Today, oil dropped over 2% as reports suggest that Israel might be willing to agree to a ceasefire, which could lead to a de-escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. This would allow for the free flow of oil through the region, thereby reducing costs. This week, we might expect selling pressure to persist, but if a ceasefire is not reached, oil could regain upward momentum.

It's difficult to predict a price drop within a specific timeframe, but we can analyze the chart and identify factors influencing prices. Currently, the chart shows the formation of an ascending triangle, indicating that lower lows haven't been reached. This suggests that the price is more likely to continue rising rather than retesting local lows.

Additionally, with winter approaching, the world's major natural gas buyers may start preparing their purchases, especially since current prices are at a four year cycle low. Therefore, looking for long positions in this area would be my preferred choice.

Gold is a highly volatile asset with prolonged trends, making short positions on gold particularly "risky." It is anticipated that Jerome Powell's remarks at the upcoming Jackson Hole conference, representing the Fed, will be dovish, potentially marking the beginning of a monetary easing cycle that could drive gold prices higher. Given this risk factor, how much loss could you tolerate if gold continues to rise? Depending on your strategy, you might consider closing your position on a pullback.

There is only a theoretical possibility that gold prices may fall before the opening of this week's important central bank annual meeting. Because most safe haven assets receive support before important events or data releases.

Aug 19, 2024 14:55

Eva chen Expert
From a technical perspective, XAGUSD's recent rebound from the $26.45 area tested the $29.00 supply area last Friday and is currently facing stagnation. It is also an opportunity for bulls to exit, as they completed a test on August 2nd and a new round of bears may make a comeback.
If it continues to fall below the $28.00 mark, XAGUSD may fall back to the 23.6% Fibonacci level, around the $27.75 area, and then drop to the support level of $27.45-27.40. Some subsequent selling may shift back to bearish trading and pave the way for further declines towards the $27.00 integer level. Suggest using $29.50 as the benchmark and focusing on short selling at high prices.

Spot silver broke through and stabilized above $28.55. Is it possible to continue to rise in the future?

Aug 19, 2024 11:19

Winkelmann Expert
Led by gold, silver is mainly bullish in the short term, but it has risen to the resistance level near 29.2. Long positions need to wait for a correction to stabilize, and pay attention to the support of 28.5/28.0.

Spot silver recently broke through and stabilized above the $28.55 level, which is a significant technical milestone. This upward move suggests that silver could continue its bullish trend, especially if it remains above key support levels, such as $28.37. Technical indicators like the 50-day and 200-day EMA are supporting the bullish momentum, reinforcing the potential for further gains.

However, it's important to consider the broader market environment. The ongoing strength of the U.S. dollar, driven by the Federal Reserve's firm stance on interest rates, could pose challenges for silver's upward trajectory. On the other hand, geopolitical tensions and inflation concerns could drive safe-haven demand, supporting higher silver prices.

In conclusion, while the technical setup is favorable for continued gains in silver, it is crucial to keep an eye on macroeconomic factors that could influence the market direction

Hello experts what about eur/gbp today ? I took a long position at 0.85120 , I think from a technical view that can go back up , but I'm not clear what he wants to do from a fundamental analysis point of view

Vinh Tran Expert
The EUR/GBP pair has recently been under pressure, primarily due to the strength of the British Pound, driven by positive UK economic data. Your long position at 0.85120 is technically supported, as the pair is approaching a key support level, which could provide a good base for a potential rebound. However, from a fundamental perspective, the British Pound is benefiting from stronger-than-expected economic growth and higher inflation, which supports the case for continued monetary tightening by the Bank of England. This contrasts with the European Central Bank's more cautious stance, which may limit the upside potential for the Euro.

Reply Vinh Tran
If the pair can hold above the support around 0.8500, there might be a short-term opportunity for a rebound. However, if UK economic data continues to outperform, it could put additional pressure on the Euro, making it challenging for EUR/GBP to sustain a significant rally
.

Given these factors, it would be wise to closely monitor upcoming UK and Eurozone economic data to gauge the next move, as this could determine whether the pair can recover from current levels or if further downside is likel

how do policy rates affect the market

Aug 19, 2024 10:32
A
Vinh Tran Expert
Policy rates, set by central banks, have a significant impact on financial markets. When a central bank raises policy rates, borrowing costs increase, making loans more expensive for consumers and businesses. This tends to slow down economic activity as spending and investment decrease, often leading to a drop in stock prices as companies' future earnings prospects diminish. Conversely, higher rates can attract foreign investment seeking higher returns, leading to an appreciation of the local currency.

On the other hand, when policy rates are lowered, borrowing becomes cheaper, stimulating spending and investment. This can boost stock markets as companies' growth prospects improve. However, lower rates can also lead to currency depreciation, as investors seek higher returns elsewhere. Additionally, lower rates can increase inflationary pressures, as more money flows into the economy, potentially leading to rising prices.

The Next ECB Monetary Policy Meeting In September, Provided That Disinflation Is

Release Schedule

Reports are released at 3:30 p.m. on Friday (EST). The release includes data
from the previous Tuesday.

Content

1. Symbols: Futures and options contracts for assets including metals, energy,
and FX

2. Data: Globex, open outcry, clearport/PNT, change, and open interest

Terminology

1. CME Volume and Open Interest: CME Volume and Open Interest Report is released
at the end of each trading day

2. Globex: CME's electronic trading platform. It represents the number of
contracts traded electronically

3. Open Outcry: Represents the number of contracts traded on CME's trading
floors

4. Clearport/PNT: CME's clearing service for Over-The-Counter markets. PNT
stands for Privately Negotiated Trades. It represents the number of transactions
that were outside of Globex or Open Outcry trading venues

5. Volume: The number of contracts traded on the selected date for all CME
venues (including Globex, Open Outcry, ClearPort/PNT, and all other executions).
One key difference between volume and open interest is that volume counts all
contracts that have been traded, while open interest counts the total of
contracts remaining open in the market

6. Open Interest: Represents the number of contracts that have been entered into
and not yet offset by delivery. Each open transaction has a buyer and seller,
but for calculation of open interest, only one side of the contract is counted.
For example, three traders are trading the same futures contract. If trader A
buys one contract to enter a long trade, open interest increases by one. Trader
B also goes long and buys six contracts, therefore, open interest increases to
seven. If trader C decides to short and sells three contracts, open interest
again increases to 10. Open interest would remain at 10 until they exit their
positions, at which open interest declines. For example, if trader A sells one
contract, open interest declines to nine. When trader C decides to exit his
position, he buys back his three contracts, that brings open interest down to
six

7. Change: Represents the day-over-day change in open interest

Formula

1. Open Interest = Long position contracts bought + Short position contracts
sold - Long/Short contracts already exited

2. CME Volume = Volume generated in Globex + Open outcry + ClearPort/PNT + Other
types of executions

= New long position contracts bought + New short position contracts sold +
Long/Short contracts already exited

3. Change = Open interest today - Open interest yesterday

4. Options = Call options + Put options

Importance

1. Usage: Can be used to determine market sentiment and the strength behind
price trends

2. Changes in Open Interest: If the open interest increases, the current trend
has formed; if it decreases, the trend has lost its strength

3. Changes in Volume: If trading volume goes up, that indicates that market
participants are entering the market; if the volume gets smaller, traders are
leaving the market

4. Explanation: If traders want to support the current trend, they will enter
the markets and increase the open interest. When they lose their confidence in
the trend, they will exit their positions, so open interest drops. These data
can provide some information to help traders determine market directions
