Published 5:34 pm Monday, September 18, 2023

By Staff Reports

A devastating head-on collision occurred on the night of September 15, 2023, at
around 10:13 pm, resulting in the loss of one life. The incident unfolded on US
321 and involved a 2003 Chevrolet Tracker and a 2019 Ford F250.

According to a release from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2003 Chevrolet
Tracker driven by Timothy Reed Church Jr., 44, of Tennessee, tragically lost his
life in the collision. Church’s vehicle crossed the center line while traveling
north on US 321, hitting a 2019 Ford F250 operated by George Edward Clark, 53,
from New Jersey. Despite wearing a seat belt, Clark sustained injuries in the
accident. Maura Lucia Araujo, 57, from Brazil, was a passenger in the Ford F250,
wearing a seat belt, and sustained injuries.

As authorities continue their investigation, no charges have been filed pending
the outcome.
