CoMSES Net is an international network of researchers, educators and professionals with the common goal of improving the way we develop, share, and use computational modeling in the social and ecological sciences. Learn more PUBLISH YOUR CODE Preserve the digital artifacts and context used to derive a published research finding in an open digital repository that supports FAIR practices for Research Software, software citation, reproducibility, and reuse. Promote good practices for developing, documenting, and publishing computational models. RESOURCES FOR MODELERS * Subscribe to our YouTube channel * Educational resources * Standards for computational modeling * Software frameworks for computational modeling * Open Code Badge for exemplar computational models COMMUNITY EVENTS AND JOBS Upcoming conferences, workshops, training opportunities, schools, and events of broad interest for the computational modeling community as well as an open jobs board for computational modelers in academia and industry. FEATURED MODELS 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. AXELROD_CULTURAL_DISSEMINATION The Axelrod's model of cultural dissemination is an agent-model designed to investigate the dissemination of culture among interacting agents on a society. AN AGENT-BASED MODEL OF STATUS CONSTRUCTION IN TASK FOCUSED GROUPS The model simulates interactions in small, task focused groups that might lead to the emergence of status beliefs among group members. ARTIFICIAL ANASAZI Replication of the well known Artificial Anasazi model that simulates the population dynamics between 800 and 1350 in the Long House Valley in Arizona. A MODEL OF ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS SPREAD AND ITS EFFECT IN RESOURCE CONSUMPTION REDUCTION The model reproduces the spread of environmental awareness among agents and the impact of awareness level of the agents on the consumption of a resource, like energy. An agent is a household with a set of available advanced smart metering functions. TORSTEN HÄGERSTRAND’S SPATIAL INNOVATION DIFFUSION MODEL This model is a replication of Torsten Hägerstrand's 1965 model--one of the earliest known calibrated and validated simulations with implicit "agent based" methodology. MOOVPOPSURVEILLANCE MOOvPOPsurveillance was developed as a tool for wildlife agencies to guide collection and analysis of disease surveillance data that relies on non-probabilistic methods like harvest-based sampling. Previous Next OUR COMMUNITY CoMSES Net is dedicated to fostering open and reproducible scientific computation through cyberinfrastructure and community development. We develop and curate resources for model-based science with FAQs and forums for discussions, job postings, and events. We also develop and maintain the CoMSES Computational Model Library, a digital repository for code that supports discovery and good practices for software citation, reproducibility and reuse. Responsibilities include developing a cutting-edge research program in remote sensing of the environment, focusing on areas like image analysis, geospatial data, and AI for sustainable cities. If aligned with IVADO’s objectives on environmental big data, your research may qualify for an IVADO professorship with enhanced starting conditions. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: VIRGINIA MODELING, ANALYSIS & SIMULATION CENTER (VMASC) 🚀 Exciting Leadership Opportunity at VMASC! 🚀 Old Dominion University's Virginia Modeling, Analysis & Simulation Center (VMASC) is looking for a visionary Executive Director to lead our cutting-edge research initiatives in Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and data analytics. This is your chance to guide strategic planning, foster national and international partnerships, and drive innovation that solves real-world problems. COMPUTATIONAL SOCIAL SCIENTIST, 4-MONTH+ CONTRACT WITH SISTEMAFUTURA sistemaFutura seeks an experienced computational social scientist to collaborate on two ABMs we are building: on financial behaviors and on health behaviors. We currently have a 4 month opening, but that is likely to increase. We combine behavioral science insights and interventions in the field with our models, so BeSci experience is welcome, but not not required.
