BostonHacks is a 24-hour event where students from different backgrounds gather
together to use technology to create cool projects. Come to BostonHacks to
expand your knowledge and skills, make new friends, win prizes, and network with
recruiters from our corporate sponsors!

All submissions must:

1. Provide a link to a public Github or GitLab repository

2. A 2 minute or less demo video for their Submission (Must be created during
the hackathon)

3. A complete Devpost Entry for their Submission (Must include 1 track and any
additional side tracks/ challenges)

SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS - MINI DRONE

In our rapidly evolving society and technologically driven society, it is easy
to lose touch with the natural world that has supported human life for billions
of years. While we immerse ourselves in the technological world, we must not
forget about the sanctuary this earth has provided. Thus we must utilize
technology to bring about the preservation and conservation of nature. How can
we harmonize our technological progress with maintaining our natural world?

DIGITAL DREAMERS - NINTENDO SWITCH

As we grow older, we often reminisce about the days when we were young
children—when our imagination ran free and our minds weren’t constrained by
reality. We could create new worlds and entire stories with our toys and embark
on journeys to the uncharted territories of our mind. This track brings us back
in touch with the creative child we once were, where we can construct new worlds
with technology. How can we leverage technology, AI, and collaborative platforms
to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling, artistic expression, and
immersive experiences?

INCLUSIVE INNOVATION - 2ND GENERATION AIRPODS PRO

With the growing and ever-evolving landscape of technology, it is essential as
creators and innovators to embrace our responsibility to address the challenge
of upholding fairness, inclusivity, and basic human rights. As developers, we
have the unique opportunity to utilize technology to bring people together and
empower those who might not be as fortunate. The world is a big place with a
diverse group of people from all walks of life—think of how you can utilize
technology to create a more culturally-connected, accessible, and healthier
society and foster a more inclusive and/or equitable society.

SIDE TRACK - TECH SOLUTIONS TO CLIMATE CHANGE IN BOSTON - BU SPARK!

BU Spark! is sponsoring a prize for a technical solution to challenges related
to climate change that the City of Boston is facing. The project must address
one or more of the following issues:
- Mitigating extreme heat/cold effects
- Promoting climate justice
- Addressing sea level rise
- Flood prevention and management
- Zero emissions

Prize and Criteria:
- Prizes are for teams with at least 3 BU students
- $500 prize (five $100 amazon gift cards)

Hackathon submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:
Relevance: addresses one of the topics listed above and reflects an
understanding of the issue as it relates to the City of Boston especially from a
climate justice perspective.
Utility/ Impact: offers a real solution that would help the city prepare for the
impacts of climate change and is clear about how impact would be measured.
Technical: shows a vision or a promising start for a novel technical solution to
the impact of climate change (bonus points for the use of emerging technologies
e.g. AI). We are more interested in demonstrating a feasible concept than
complete execution.

SIDE TRACK - BEST FINANCIAL HACK - CAPITAL ONE

In this track, Capital One is challenging Bostonhacks to create the best
financial hack. Each member of the winning team will be awarded $250 Amazon
e-gift cards!

 * Complexity
   The hack is impressively built and has a wide range of features and
   functionality that are fully functioning. Uses a wide variety of resources to
   create an amazing hack.
 * Originality
   Approaches a current problem in a new and refreshing way with features that
   are uncommon. Idea of the hack is clever and makes great use of tools that
   are available.
 * Quality/Polish
   The source code for the application is complete and fully documented. May
   also include other specifics such as continuous integration, product
   specifications, and testing.
 * Usefulness
   Provides a solution to a validated problem or need and there is clear
   evidence of engaging and researching user need.
 * Pitch/Presentation
   Provided a convincing presentation of how the hack demonstrates the above
   qualities with confidence. Demonstrates expert knowledge in the tools that
   were used.
