View this email in your browser HOPE IS A CHOICE! Therefore, be encouraged, for I believe God that things will turn out just as He said they would! Acts 27:25 nbv It’s the one thing that we cannot live without. It’s been called the greatest determinant in human history. I am speaking of hope. Take away everything a people have, but if they can retain hope they can rebuild from scratch! On the other hand, no matter what you possess, if you lose hope you are simply a dead man walking. In Acts 27 a group of men find themselves in a most hopeless situation. As they sailed, they had been caught in a deadly storm that had blown them for days. They had lost the rigging and the tackle. Verse 21 records, "as no small storm beat on us for many days all hope that we would be saved was finally given up". Have you ever been there? Maybe not on water, but what about in your family? Your personal life? Your profession? I am finding that this describes so many in our land today. Even secular scribes are beginning to write and speak about an impending hopelessness that is casting its pall over the nation. Into this darkness speaks a servant of God named Paul. He lifts his voice amid the gloom to declare that he has heard a word from God the night before and that the Almighty has promised to save everybody on the ship. Then he urges the men to "take heart", or as we would say "be encouraged". The basis of his call to hope? His belief in the Word of God. "I believe God that it will be just as He said". His message was heeded, and hope returned to the hearts of his companions! "Then they were all encouraged". As I am sure you can surmise God did exactly what He said He would. (when has He not?) All 276 people were saved from the deadly storm. What a wonderful message this is for you and me in God's Word! It reveals that our Father is a God of hope! No matter how dark and hopeless the situation, He has a Word of hope for us! Our hope can never rest on human ability or "luck of the draw". It can only be propped up on God's Word. When in a difficult place find the promise of God in His Word that applies to your need and do as Paul did. Choose to "believe God, that it will be just as He said". Stand on that promise believing Him to keep it until the storm passes. (someone should write a song called "standing on the promises") Praise God, hope in any situation is as close as your Bible! I am a great fan of God's hope! I have no desire to return to the days of fear and uncertainty that I experienced before He found me! Dear one, hope is always there. I mean always! But, as with everything else Jesus bought us at the cross it is a choice. I must find His promise and then choose to believe it while the storm is "still howling around me". To experience what I call "turbo hope", do as Paul did and not only believe His promise, but declare it also. Say out loud; "It shall turn out just as God's Word says. Not one hair shall perish from my head"! Father, today I praise you that there in not one ounce of despair in your Kingdom! Your voice is pure hope! Thank you for a Word of hope for me in every situation! I choose hope today over despair and defeat because of your Truth! Copyright © 2021 The Lamb's Chapel, All rights reserved.
