MEET DR. WILLIAM ROBB

Dr. William Robb, M.D., F.R.C.S.I., is an experienced Consultant Upper
Gastrointestinal Surgeon specialising in minimally invasive and robotic stomach
and oesophageal surgery. Graduating from Trinity College, Dublin in 2000, Dr.
Robb has built a career dedicated to advancing surgical techniques and patient
care.




EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Dr. Robb is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. He furthered his expertise
with two years in Lille, France, at Europe’s leading upper GI surgical centre,
focusing on minimally invasive oesophageal and gastric surgery for both benign
and malignant conditions. He then served as a Consultant at the Bristol Royal
Infirmary before returning to Dublin in 2015.


PIONEERING ROBOTIC SURGERY

In his quest to harness modern surgical technology for patient benefit, Dr. Robb
established Ireland’s first robotic surgical program for weight loss at
Blackrock Clinic and to date in early 2024 has done over 800 robotic bariatric
surgeries. He performs 5-10 operations for obesity every week. Utilising the
advanced da Vinci Xi robotic surgical platform, he performs a high volume of
bariatric surgeries, enhancing precision and recovery outcomes. The surgical
practice in Blackrock WeightCare includes the performance of robotic Roux-en-Y
gastric bypass (RYGB), sleeve gastrectomy, one anastomosis gastric bypass
(OAGB/min




INTRODUCED SADI-S BARIATRIC SURGERY PROCEDURE TO IRELAND

The SADI-S (Sleeve Gastrectomy with Duodenal Intestinal Bypass Single
Anastomosis) procedure combines the benefits of sleeve gastrectomy with a
partial intestinal bypass. Designed primarily for patients with a BMI over 45-50
or those suffering from severe obesity-related health issues, the procedure
promises a transformative and enduring solution to effectively manage and treat
obesity. Blackrock WeightCare is pleased to have brought this newer technique to
Irish patients for the first time.
