WELCOME TO SOUTH MĀKIRIKIRI SCHOOL

Learning is our treasure to seek and share for life
He tāonga te akonga ki te kimikimi ki te tohatoha i ngā wā katoa

PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Kia ora te whānau,

I am delighted to introduce you to South Mākirikiri School, located 7kms to the
West of Marton. We
are a rural, with 7 classrooms catering for Y1-8 students. Welcome to South
Mākirikiri School.

Our learning environment fosters a sense of belonging, values learning and
expects success. We are
resourced to provide digitally connected, comfortable, modern learning spaces.
We all have a passion
for creating an environment that brings the learning alive for every child that
comes through our
gates. We enjoy seeing learning happening in a variety of spaces and
particularly out in the outdoor
environment.

Our school has amazing learning spaces and an engaging learning environment that
enables students to explore and create in a wide range of curriculum areas.
As a school we strive to excel beyond expectation in all areas and students are
encouraged to give
everything a go. We want our young people to leave our school well equipped with
all the
competencies and qualities to participate and contribute in their secondary
education.

Our community
plays an active role in every aspect of life at South Mākirikiri School and we
enjoy building
relationships with all learners and their whānau.

Nga mihi nui kia koutou.

Greg Allan | Principal

THE FOUR WINDS

Ngā hau e wha: The four winds, north, east, south, west. These represent people
coming together from different backgrounds, regions and whakapapa.

Mt Ruapehu is a prominant landmark for South Mākirikiri School.

Paraikatetu is our Maunga.

The furrows represent the earth around us.
