7 Ways to Make Your Home Healthier
We often associate health and wellness with exercise and nutrition. That is
valid, but your environment can also affect your health and wellness. So it
helps to have a healthy home because your home is an important part of your
environment. Fortunately, this is easy to achieve if you do the right things.
Here are some things you can do to make your home healthier:

Vacuum regularly.
Regular vacuuming removes dust and other allergens from surfaces. It also takes
them out of circulation. It will go a long way to making your home healthier.

Change the filter in your air conditioner or heater regularly.
The filter in your air conditioner or heater traps dust, pollen, and other fine
particles to keep them out of the air circulating in your home. If the filter
gets clogged up, the particles can easily escape into your home. Your air
conditioner or heater will operate less efficiently too. Keeping the filter
clean will reduce dust and allergens.

Add plants if feasible.
Plants can remove volatile organic compounds (VOC's) from the air. A study by
NASA found that plants can filter out formaldehyde, benzene, and other VOC's. It
helps because many paints, adhesives, and varnishes emit VOC's. Plants will
reduce the presence of these inside your home and make the air cleaner.

Use non-toxic cleaners.
Keeping your place clean promotes a healthy home. But using toxic cleaners can
defeat its purpose. So, it helps to use non-toxic cleaners. One of the safest
and most versatile cleaners is dishwashing liquid. Dishwashing liquid is very
safe because it exists to clean surfaces that touch our food.

Declutter your home.
Clutter makes it harder to keep your home clean. It also adds a lot of
psychological stress. Having too many things in your home can make clutter
inevitable. It's because every room in every home has a finite amount of space.
If it contains too many things, it will run out of room. When that happens,
clutter will pile up on horizontal surfaces.

The best remedy is to reclaim space by reducing the stuff in your home. You
achieve this by doing two things:

Don't buy anything redundant or useless.
Remove stuff you don't use.

Buying useless or redundant things will slow or stop your decluttering process.
It will also cause clutter to build back up after you are finished. Removing
stuff you don't use will add space back to your home. The volume of what you
remove roughly equals how much space you put back into your home. Also, if you
had no use for what you discarded, you didn't deprive yourself of anything. On
that note, a decorative item is useful because it adds beauty to your home.

Keep things in their proper places.
Decluttering allows a proper place for everything, which is essential to
tidiness. It eliminates the stress caused by clutter. Keeping things in their
proper places is also convenient because you never have to search for anything.
It is also the safest arrangement because it eliminates tripping hazards. In
short, it can transform your home from a cluttered mess into a tranquil haven.

Create a relaxation or meditation space.
We all know your home should also be good for your mental health. It is why
tidiness helps. Relaxation and meditation spaces will add to this. A relaxation
space does not have to be fancy because you only need a comfortable place to sit
or lay down. If it's secluded, that's great but not necessary. Regardless of
size or location, it can make your home an enjoyable retreat.

In summary, a healthy home should be good for your physical and mental health.
Clean filters, vacuuming, and plants will keep your home's air clean. Tidiness
will make your home less stressful and reduce tripping hazards. Relaxation and
meditation spaces will make your home more enjoyable. These all help to make
your home healthier.
