HALF OF READERS ARE NOT GOING ON HOLIDAY OR EATING TAKEAWAYS IN A BID TO SAVE
MONEY

As the Cost of Living crisis continues to bite we found that almost all readers
have seen their shopping increase in price with many saying even baths have
become a luxury

97% of our survey respondents said their food shop had increased (

There's no escaping the cost of living crisis, with everything from petrol to
the weekly shop rocketing in price. And while we know we're all tightening the
purse strings, we wanted to find out more about what sacrifices you are having
to make and how it is affecting all of us.

Have Your Say is a newsletter for readers who want to have their voice heard. We
ask subscribers for their thoughts on the most pressing topics affecting the UK
at the minute. You can sign up and Have Your Say HERE.

Our latest survey was on the cost of living and there were some shocking
results. To keep costs down, the weekly takeaway is now a thing of the past.
Just 11% of respondents said they still had the treat each week while 53% said
they indulged "hardly ever".

Nearly half of people (47%) were not going on holiday this year and only 22%
said they were going abroad.

The rising cost of fuel has seen a massive shift in driving trends too with 60%
of people saying they were now driving less.

It's no wonder we're all making these changes when 97% of readers told us that
their weekly shop had increased and 66% said it had gone up by a lot.

While more than half (53%) said they were always savvy when it came to food
shopping, 37% of people said that it was more important now to grab an offer or
yellow sticker item.

But it's not all about bargain hunting. We had hundreds of readers telling us
their money-saving tips and tricks from batch cooking to ensuring all the
electrics are switched off when not in use.

PROMOTED STORIES

One reader suggested downloading food-saving apps Too Good to Go and Olio, while
another suggested saving app Plum as a good way of putting money aside for
Christmas.

Many suggested cooking from scratch and avoiding any unneeded expenses including
ready meals with some saying they have saved money from ditching the oven and
only using their air fryer or microwave.

Sadly, the responses also highlighted just how many of us are skipping meals and
selfcare as a necessary money-saving tactic with many saying that a bath has now
become a luxury while others said they have chosen to skip meals in order to
feed their children.
