Everyone knows that Radka Vláčilová has been my assistant for about 100 years.
Actually, I never had an assistant other than Radka. Reversibly, Radka has never
been an assistant to anyone else than me. I call her "Rat". So, her destiny is
something like a fairytale about hell in paradise 😃. She is a beautiful,
clever, precise, hardworking and really good person. It means, our team is –⁠ on
average –⁠ generally acceptable.

UNICORN & VLADIMÍR

This section contains a brief historical context of and its founder Vladimír
Kovář.
1962 – I was born in Czechoslovakia at a time when people at home spoke
differently than outside in the public. The socialist regime was distorting
everything around. Much more than gravity does 😃. My dad used to tell me: "Son,
study the exact sciences, they are equally valid everywhere in the world.
Natural laws, mathematics, logic, and common sense are more than the leading
role of the party."

1976 – At high school, I enjoyed physics and mathematics. For me, it was a piece
of cake and I had a great teacher (Mr. Alexander Bezděk, our class and physics
teacher). Still, it was not easy to get to the university. "Kovář, who do you
think you are? A son of SUCH parents ...", the headmaster rumbled at me in the
corridor in front of my classmates when he found out that I wanted to continue
with my studies (Mr. Jaromír Ráchlík, the headmaster at our high school, was a
member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia).

1980 – Fortunately, at that time almost everyone who wanted to study at FNPE
(Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering – Czech Technical University) was
accepted. It was actually more about surviving the 1st semester. I studied
Mathematical Engineering. I got excited about pure mathematics thanks to an
excellent mathematician and university professor Prof. Alois Apfelbeck ().

1982 – I got acquainted with computers and software in 1982. Already at the
university, I started to work on various economic models of time series at the
Institute of Management of Prague, under the guidance of Mr. Ing. Stanislav
Hájek. This is probably the person who discovered my talent for combining
mathematics, organization, management, and software 🙂.

1985 – When I graduated from the FNPE, I joined the Computer Center of the
University of Economics in Prague as a system programmer for the new EC-1045
computer (a Soviet copy of the IBM 370 mainframe). It was a school of hard
knocks – a seven-and-half-hour breakdown in one eight-hour shift 😃 – in some
way, the stagnation was really funny.
Stagnation is the period from 1969 to 1989 in Czechoslovakia.

1987 – After compulsory military service, I accepted an offer to become the head
of the personal computers department at Koospol, an international trade company.
After half a year, I had one subordinate, so I learned the principles of
teamwork and people management. My key task was to get the new Siemens MX 300
SINIX computer with the SINIX operating system going (SINIX was a version of
UNIX, the predecessor of today's LINUX). For more details, see . The UNIX
operating system and the C programming language immediately thrilled me.

1990 – In 1990 I founded . And since then, has become an essential part of my
life and belongs to the circle of my family and my best friends. I work hard on
everything that is needed for a nice life for me, my family, my friends,
Unicorn, my co-workers, my customers, my business community, and the society I
live in. I want to be useful and add value.

2007 – It is worth mentioning that I founded in 2007. I think the education of
young people is great and important.

2008 – In 2008 I won a very prestigious competition in the Czech Republic called
. This is how our work has been awarded – my work, the work of the management of
my companies, and the work of all my co-workers.

2009 – I'm still learning and also teaching everyone around me about how to
create software and also how to manage a company. In 2009, I set up PMO4V
(Project Management Office for Vladimír) - see , from which I manage all
activities related to my work, , or anything that is needed.

2011 – In 2011 I finished my postgraduate studies at the University of Hradec
Králové – Faculty of Informatics and Management. My doctoral dissertation was
called Unicorn Enterprise System Powered Company and it elaborates on the
methodology of company and organization management with the use of IT in a way
that was unusual on the market. Today, we use this methodology under the name .

2015 – In 2015, I initiated and personally participated in creating a new
version of the key manufacturing technology of Unicorn – . Besides other things,
UAF contains – the basic software manufacturing line with the modern Unicorn
Mobile-First IoT-Ready Cloud Architecture. With solutions based on such
architecture, we are on a roll and the best is yet to come.

2018 – In 2018 I started work on Unicorn 2020++ – the new vision and strategy.
Unicorn will become a global company, a worldwide software producer, and a
world-class system integrator and supplier of IT solutions with high added
value.

2019 - In 2019, two newly accredited Master's programs were launched at
Unicorn University.

2020 - In 2020, becomes and we started to call the Unicorn Mobile-First
IoT-Ready Cloud Architecture just The Architecture. Btw., our "The Architecture"
is a beautiful and amazing thing - or just awesome 🦄 magic.

2021 - In 2021, has extended its accreditation to include fully online study.
Education is our priority and so we have opened the educational platform to the
general public. Learning with a monster is cool 🙂. internet service exceeded
200,000 users in September. I learned to fly a helicopter, so, in addition to
being a skipper, I am also a helicopter pilot. And I am most pleased with the
solution for recharging electric cars in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a target of
3,000 charging stations. , Plus4U, The Architecture - exactly as it should be.

2022 - The year 2022 started with a complete disaster. Russia invaded Ukraine. I
would never have thought of such a terrible and shameful war in Europe. Russia
has condemned itself to hatred for generations. My main task became immediate
but at the same time systematic support, of all our Ukrainian coworkers and
their loved ones, for as long as needed. There are 120 families. Brave and aware
people who fight tooth and nail. They haven't stopped believing in victory and
haven't stopped working. Glory to Ukraine! I also started publishing . It is
another way to share the main ideas that Unicorn stands for and that create the
context in which we are and want to be. Of course, we continue to develop The
Architecture. The new key products I am directly working on are uuBrachKit,
uuBusinessBrick, and uuTestMan. The  product was so successful in Europe that we
decided to create a separate company. Winning the Cornet tender for the
coordination of electricity supply in Europe is our biggest business success in
2022. But there is much, much more. After all, in 2022 we created more than CZK
7 billion in added value. Only beneficial things. For example,  courses for
Ukrainian children, where our business partners helped us with financing.

My role in is the Owner, Stakeholder, CEO, Chief Business Architect, and Chief
Software Architect. That's it.

I'm working on two key projects – Unicorn, a software factory that is my
"sweetheart", and Plus4U, my digital world ("my" meaning from my point of view,
but you can see Plus4U from your point of view 😃). Both of these projects have
one thing in common – Software Everywhere.

work, we deliver solutions that are subject to the time-proven criteria known as

FOREWORD TO UNICORN 2019 ANNUAL REPORT

(Piece of the history.)

Well, friends, colleagues, partners,

Unicorn is already 30 years old. Btw, it means that I –⁠ Vladimír –⁠ am 30 years
older too. When I founded Unicorn I was 28. So, now I am 58. I feel good, it is
not so bad 🙂.

From the very beginning, Unicorn was and still remains among those several
living creatures that I think about every day. Those that I name in my mind
every single day before falling asleep.

Unicorn is a beautiful company. Even better, Unicorn is a good bunch of
companies each of which has its own goals and focus, and together they work as a
complex organism that accelerates the speed and keeps the direction. I am proud
of Unicorn. I am tough and strict with Unicorn. I always stand up for Unicorn.
It is exactly the same with my children, as with my management, and actually,
with all my coworkers.

Unicorn stabilized its position in orbit as the Czech number one IT company. We
create amazing things. We make a lot of those things, and we make them pretty
well. But you have to know, standardly I tell my colleagues that what we are
doing is not so bad, but that it is necessary to deliver much more, much faster,
and do it better.

Yep, and what the future is waiting for? For us –⁠ we have already started new
engines. We are heading to the next orbit. We are reaching Europe and the whole
world. The whole world is our customer. We keep our traditional business -
banks, financial institutions, energy industry giants, and huge corporations.
And we added the next priorities –⁠ education, health, and ecology. We need and
believe in a better society. We want to be beneficial and simply add value to
all of us.

Our clients are excited about our product approach. We are faster, we are more
efficient, and we are a significant know-how holder.

We are working on the new banking system. The European energy market receives
new market management and new control systems. We deliver a new generation of
methodology and related software for the precise management of companies and
organizations. We produce a new family of products to support complex software
development, implementation, testing, request management, business modeling,
budgeting, and more. There are new concepts associated with Unicorn –⁠ Green
Certificates, Charge-up. There are over one million patients registered in +4U
Medical service. Our system handles thousands of appointment reservations with
therapists daily. There are tens of thousands of passed lessons, tests, and
practices of our online courses every single day.

We want to develop online educational courses for everything you can imagine. We
have created the platform for that. Anyone who wants can help us. Join us. We
have created a platform for writing electronic books, websites, documents, and
online educational courses. It is not a new MS Word or other such a notepad. We
are not writing just text with some pictures. We collect and edit components.
Look at , there is a component that automatically displays the current weather.
You can see how the wind is blowing –⁠ speed, direction, gusts, and more. Well,
here's how we did it. Some students from Unicorn University developed a
component for that and put it on the website. That's it. This is our
architecture. We now have thousands of components like this. It is an open
solution. You can use it and of course, you can create your own components if
needed. Then you can combine what you want.

Ok, this  belongs to us as well. Who can't get planning on the water on a board
with a sail, loses a lot. The wind, the sun, the water, nature, health,
movement, freedom of mind –⁠ it is a lifestyle. It is a life approach. We are
responsible, hard-working, and patient, and we learn and improve continuously.
To be beneficial for society is our duty, wish, and priority.

Unicorn is a software maker. We add value by specific combinations of zeros and
ones. It is funny, isn't it? But it is an extremely beautiful work.

Unicorn is a huge international team of dedicated, very focused, well-educated,
fully involved, creative, and smart people. It is so nice to be a part of it.

Unicorn has been growing for 30 years. It is possible to say, that Unicorn had a
happy childhood. It is a great success. Ok, but from my point of view, all these
30 years were just the beginning. My guess is, that we will surprise you all.
Our software will support millions of users. Remember, Unicorn –⁠ Software
everywhere.
