MONASTERIO

TYPE DESIGN

2022

Prev / Next (1 of 1)

Monasterio is a display type family interested in the tactile. Inspired by the
sculptural works of Luiz Ortiz Monasterio and informed by Edward Catich’s Origin
of the Serif, Monasterio currently consists of four styles intended for two ends
of a typographer’s scale. Monasterio hopes to cover a wide spectrum of uses from
the monumental to the intimate. This typeface was created as a final project for
the Letterform Archive’s Type West program.

Professors: Graham Bradley, James Edmondson. Special thanks: Graham Bradley,
Lynne Yun, Kel Troughton, and the entire Letterform Archive Staff and Type West
student body.

Genoa
Type Design
2021

Prev / Next (1 of 1)

Genoa is a digital revival of a roman type indicative of the French Renaissance,
printed by Christophe Plantin during the 16th century. This revival was an
excercise in form and an excursion into an interpretation of historic forms for
a contemporary context. Created during the first term of the Letterform
Archive’s Type West program.

Professors: Graham Bradley, Kel Troughton.  Reference: Letterform Archive

2020

Prev / Next (1 of 1)

Nayarit is a condensed typeface inspired by analog typography seen throughout
Mexico City’s residential streets. Nayarit was designed with the vernacular in
