what conditions and challenges are ahead. This letter is for our readers,

MODEST INCREASE IN HOME EQUITY ISSUANCE PROJECTED FOR 2025

Moderately higher issuance of transactions containing closed-end second
mortgages and home-equity lines-of-credit are forecasted for next year. Growth
is also projected for securitizations of home-equity investment contracts and
fix-and-flip loans.


HIGHEST, LOWEST HOME EQUITY YIELDS

Borrowers’ resistance to higher-rate second mortgage products is waning. Recent
Federal Reserve moves are likely to benefit interest rates on home-secured
credit lines more than traditional first mortgage rates. Credit unions continued
to maintain lower interest rates on home-equity assets than banks in the third
quarter, though banks’ rates are much lower than on loans included in
residential mortgage-backed securities. Fifth Third bank has the highest
home-equity yield among larger banks.

Federal regulators are raising the threshold for loans considered to be
high-priced. Seven members of Congress have opened an investigation into the
recently failed EasyKnock Inc. A recent decision by the Supreme Court has
positive ramifications for stakeholders in the business of home-equity
investment contracts.

addition, an equity-sharing loan product emerged, while a large fintech has

EQUITY SHARING REPORTS COMPARE PRODUCTS, PNC HAS CES SERVICING PORTFOLIO

FAILED HEI PROVIDER EASYKNOCK MIRED IN LEGAL ACTIONS

sale-leaseback operations were tangled in litigation and legal activity.


Q3 HOME EQUITY CREDIT QUALITY MIXED AS ORIGINATIONS RISE

Originations of closed-end second mortgages and home-equity lines of credit have
made big gains from last year. Lending institutions holding HELOCs with draw
periods that will be expiring are vulnerable to originators who target such
customers for HELOC refinances. While combined loan-to-value ratios tightened on
securitized home-equity loans, credit scores fell four points and debt-to-income
ratios rose almost a full percentage point.


🔒HEI ORIGINATOR SPLITERO DISCLOSES ANOTHER INVESTOR COMMITMENT
