service in the line of duty. A ceremony at the Poinsett County Quorum Court
meeting on Monday, Oct. 14, honored Lt. Jay-Ryan Woods with the Invictus Award.

A new women’s facility was dedicated on Thursday, Oct. 10 at John 3:16
Ministries in Charlotte. John 3:16 Ministries has been helping both men and
women who have been struggling with addiction for years, and a couple of weeks
ago they opened their new women’s facility. It has 40 beds.

JUSTICES PLAN TO SEPARATE SHERIFF, COLLECTOR OFFIC...

The position of Poinsett County Sheriff/Collector may be two separate positions
under a proposal headed to the state legislature next year. At its meeting
Monday evening, the Poinsett County Quorum Court approved a resolution
expressing support for legislation to separate both offices. According to the
resolution, nearly a third of the state’s 75 counties have consolidated offices
for Sheriff and Collector with officials saying it will be more effective and
efficient to separate the offices.

METROPLAN GRANTS $17.35 MILLION FOR CENTRAL ARKANS...

A $17.35 million funding infusion will help central Arkansas expand and grow its
transportation options. A Metroplan spokesperson said Monday that the agency is
funding projects in nine cities and two counties through block grants for
project design or construction. Funding improvements will ease traffic flow and
add to the growing central Arkansas trail system to access and link cities
throughout the region.

We serve as the official voice for Arkansas counties. The overall purpose of the
Association of Arkansas Counties (AAC) is to work for the improvement of county
government in the state of Arkansas. Our website includes information about the
AAC and about Arkansas counties in general, including contact information for
all elected officials. Information also is available about our membership
benefits and services for counties. We also have current topics, such as
legislative information and AAC's position on matters affecting county
government. A calendar of association events also is available online, as well
as links to our many publications. Our nine affiliate associations also are
accessible through our website. "Helpful Links" provides a short list of links
to other websites of interest. You may also contact the AAC staff through our
