higher education by applying data- and evidence-informed standards and processes
to support continuous improvements and promote equitable student achievement and
success.

Who We Are

A HIGHER STANDARD

We aim to ensure educational quality, stability, and sustainability through peer
evaluation against standards, eligibility requirements, and policies.

SUPPORT THROUGH ACCREDITATION

Institutions and enrolled students qualify for Title IV federal funds to support
teaching, research, and student financial aid.

A TRUSTED AUTHORITY

Accreditation bolsters institutional reputation, including student
transferability and employability.

WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?

Accreditation is a formal recognition process that certifies educational
institutions that meet certain quality standards and eligibility criteria,

LAND USE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The office of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities is located
on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish, Stillaguamish, and Coast Salish
peoples who have lived in these territories from time immemorial, and are still
here today. We extend our honor, respect, and gratitude to them, and to their
elders and descendants—past and present—in continuing to enrich our lives
through sharing their wisdom in allowing us to gather on their traditional
lands.
