Founder and Director - Andreas Marx
Organized in November 1991

"Traditional European Wind Band Music"

Our Director is originally from Geesthact/Elbe, Germany.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Andreas was the director of community bands in Geesthact for four years.  In
1988 he received a
Conductor's Diploma for Concert Bands
which enabled him to conduct bands professionally.

He moved to Richmond, Virginia in August 1991 and found that there was no
community band in the area that regularly performed Traditional European
Music...so he formed the band by inviting musicians that he met in the area to
play.  The group performs regularly throughout the Central Virginia area.  The
music library owned by our director is extensive and the repetoire consists of
traditional waltzes, polkas, and marches from Germany, Austria, Poland, and
Czechoslovakia as well as music from the rest of Europe.  Also included in the
library are arrangements of many "standards" of the twentieth century.
