Thank you so much to everyone who got involved to help fund breast cancer

THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER AMAZING PINK RIBBON STREET APPEAL!

Thank you so much to everyone who got involved with the 2022 Pink Ribbon Street
Appeal. By giving your time, you've helped raise vital funds for breast cancer
education, research and patient support. You've also helped raise awareness -
over the two days of the appeal, more than 200,000 breast health cards were
given out all around the country. For many, seeing our volunteers on the street
is enough of a reminder for people to check their breasts, get a mammogram, or
check in with their doctor - actions that could save a life.

If you missed out on the opportunity to donate, you can do so below.

Thanks again and we can’t wait to see you back next year!

BECOME AN AREA COORDINATOR

Area Coordinators manage a group of volunteers and are vital to the success of
the appeal – in fact we couldn’t run it without them!

Hannah hosted a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the first time last year and she had a
blast! She started off by planning what she wanted to do. She decided to hold a
Pink Ribbon Night with her close friend Caitlyn, inviting many of their closest
friends and family to attend. Each guest made a donation of $25 to attend the
event and the girls provided snacks and drinks for everyone.

Hannah shared a couple of her best tips for other first time hosts:
1. Choose to do something that suits you and your guests! I did a Pink Ribbon
Night because we all love evening gatherings, but you might choose to do a
brunch, high tea or even a movie night!
2. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Caitlyn and I got our friends involved who
helped set up decorations and food on the day :)

You too can host a Pink Ribbon Breakfast, and if you register before Friday
you'll go in the draw to win a KitchenAid stand mixer!

The Cardrona Valley Bra Fence has raised $144,000!! 🥰🥳

As well as being an amazing fundraiser, we also know it's a special place. Every
now and then, alongside your generous donations, we find letters and notes from
women at various stages of their breast cancer journeys, sharing their stories.

A huge thanks to the Cardrona Valley Bra Fence team for looking after it,
collecting the donations, and keeping it going for all of these years!

Have you been there? Show us your pics!

These can include fatigue, cognitive issues (“onco brain”), nerve damage and
lymphoedema. If you are experiencing any long-term or late side effects, or want
more information on how to manage these symptoms, please get in touch with our

You may have heard already, but one of our community fundraisers, Paul
Bondsfield is trying to beat the Guinness World Record for the longest drumming
session to raise money for three cancer charities, including Breast Cancer
Foundation NZ. Paul’s wife, Tris, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and
this is one way he'd like to support her and others impacted by breast cancer.
The Longest Beat http://takeaction.org.nz/page/thelongestbeat

Paul will be drumming for 6 days straight to attempt to beat this! For Paul to
accomplish this, the rules state he must have two volunteers to be witnesses at
all times and each volunteer must be there for 4 hours. The event will be held
in The Pod at Sylvia Park shopping centre in Mt Wellington, Auckland, from April
8-14.

Can you dedicate 4 hours of your time to help Paul beat this record and raise
money for breast cancer?

He has a spreadsheet set up here -

Today is the last day you can tell the government to include breast cancer in
New Zealand’s first Women’s Health Strategy. We have seen 270 submissions so
far, and every submission will make a difference.

Right now, there's no mention of breast cancer in the official focus of the
strategy, which the government will use to improve the health of Kiwi women.
This is despite it being the leading cause of death for NZ women under the age
of 65.

Have your say by sending a submission to strategies@health.govt.nz to make sure
breast cancer isn’t ignored. Writing a submission might sound scary, but it only
needs to be a couple of sentences telling the Ministry to include breast cancer
in the strategy. If you're happy to, please copy intouch@bcf.org.nz into your
email, as we’d love to see your submission.

THANK YOU to those who have already submitted ❣️. Please be sure to share this
message with friends and whānau so they can submit too.

Last year, Heather and Sonya celebrated 10 years of hosting Pink Ribbons
Breakfasts together!! 🎉 They have been hosting ever since Sonya was diagnosed
with breast cancer. To mark this milestone, Sonya decided to shave her hair as
she never lost it during treatment.

The pair have really grown their Pink Ribbon Breakfast, and each year the
community of Palmerston Otago look forward to attending the event. According to
Heather and Sonya - the key to a successful event is to start early and work
with your community.

What great advice! You too can host a Pink Ribbon Breakfast at
