IS THERE A RELIABLE 1PX HORIZONTAL RULE METHOD?

Hi,
I'm trying to put a horizontal rule in an email, but actually using 100% width
1px high table/td.
I've trawled the forums/stackoverflow etc and can't yet find a solution that
works across all Outlooks AND Lotus 6,7,8 (as well as the other clients but
they're less problematic)
I guess it would be possible to do an if(!mso) and if(mso) rule and double up
the content as I have some options that work in Outlook and some that work in
Lotus but not both .. that's not ideal though
anyone have anything reliably working yet?
I am happy to test any suggestions in Litmus and post the results.

I have a solution that works against ALL Litmus tests.

You will have to adjust the width on the <td> to match your required width of
the horizontal rule. Must be px.. NOT 100%
You might notice the !important on the table width... this is a fix for
left-aligned buttons on Gmail App in Android. Gmail ignores the width="100%" on
the <table> so it has to be inlined.

Hi Jozef. I'd say border-bottom:1px solid #000; on a <td> should be pretty
consistent across all clients you mentioned.

sorry you're partly right actually. for my purposes I didn't need an exact 1px
height in terms of the space surrounding the horizontal rule (ie it's not a
pixel perfect slice of an image here, just a divider in some copy)
I found border-bottom:1px solid #FFFFFF for some reason gave me a black border
in Lotus 7. could be something to do with the default font colour I'm not sure.
however using border-top worked ok
this therefore appears to work for me in all email clients Litmus lets me test.
I didn't end up needing most of the other code.

I believe that doesn't work in Lotus 6/7 due to unsupported CSS styles
yes, I'd rather not have to support 10 year old email clients but that's the
current task set :(
the only result that's worked ok for Lotus 7 and the others so far is something
along these lines.. but i'm not sure about putting font size 0 in an email... I
don't know how spam filters are treating that these days

Have you tried styling an HTML <hr>? I haven't tried it with Lotus Notes as I
don't need to support it, but it has worked with the majors so far in Litmus
tests, including Outlook. I prefer to use padding on a TD surrounding it for
space. Reset the margin, padding, and border on the <hr> to 0, and then use
width, height, color, and background-color (both of which would be the same
colour).

This doesn't appear to work on Outlook 2016 (Windows), it appears that border:
none; specifically is the issue.

If you put the border on the <td> tag, that usually works. Example: <td
style="border-bottom: 1px solid #CCCCCC;">
