This isn't powered by any popular third-party GPT > services, such as OpenAI, or Anthropic. Actually, it is powered by an > open-source language model, self-hosted on my own hardware, and trained > partially on a curated dataset of my own writings, crafted by me - Ziping > Liu. As a new update from my end for the start of July..., a major update was released last week! You may have already noticed that the chat box now uses the Meta-v3-8b-instruct model. I've been actively testing and training with this new release. Stay tuned for another update soon! We'll be switching to a different, recently released model. This new model has a unique architecture that sets it apart from other models I've used in the past. It's a significant departure from typical open-source models, as Meta's architecture has become the standard in the field. However, I am always eager to explore other variants. To be clear, I do not exclusively use open-source models. I also use commercial models. I have no preference, and I've been combining their uses to see if it could lead to more efficient response generation. This approach might allow me to utilize more advanced models when needed and otherwise replace them with open-source models. Why? Simply to minimize the number of tokens required when using commercial models. You can now try out a preview of the new Gemini-2 model with the chatbot. You can also switch back to the original, more refined Meta-3 model. You can even converse in the same message chain while switching back and forth between the two models. This is a technique I often use with AI. By distributing generation between different models, I can avoid rate limiting, which allows me to make many more requests with commercial models. Check out the bottom of the chatbox below with new configurable options regarding the models now available. As you will soon realize, the gemma2 preview model responds with much less useful or intended responses. This is a preview, not even intended as a showcase, but rather an early viewing. It's my way of expressing gratitude to visitors like you who show interest in my work and keep coming back to my site. Thank you for providing me with the motivation to continue, something money could never fully provide. So to viewers like you, thank you. > To me, time is the most invaluable currency. Why hasn't this > > upgrade been prioritized, and how much longer will we have to endure > > these recurring outages? Major Update for July 17th***: Despite ongoing challenges with internet connectivity, I've made significant strides in fine-tuning Gemma-2. While less user-friendly than commercially available models (it doesn't function seamlessly out of the box), understanding its architecture revealed Gemma-2's superiority. Compared to Meta-3 8B, it exhibits significantly more advanced responses and awareness; the difference is striking and surpasses what I typically observe with increments of 3.5B to 7B. To facilitate immediate testing, I'm running Gemma-2 on a cloud server, recognizing it will be slower than my local hardware. Due to internet limitations, this model is currently the only one accessible and may remain so for a limited time due to cloud service costs. You can access now the preview release, and soon to come, compare it side by side with Meta-3B once my servers are back online as well. Thank you for you patience. More updates to come. To read more about the kind of developments that have been made, check out my discussion here on huggingface Addendum:***As of July 19th, internet services have been restored, and we can expect major new updates soon. Chat functionality should now work without issues. Thank you for your patience! Be sure to check back often for ongoing information regarding updates using the new `Gemini` variant for Synthetics. Try out both Meta-3 and Gemini-2 and see for yourself the stunning similarity of character preserved in both models, while acknowledging that responses may vary due to the technical differences in model size and architecture. My approach towards the model-agnostic design of my chat AI is not only feasible but also benefits from a modularized approach, as described in countless design principles. This means the progress I've made thus far has exceeded my own expectations. I will now dedicate myself to even more serious work and projects involving LLMs, given my newfound level of AI design experience. I am excited to begin preparing more detailed guides and reports to expand the reach of LLM applications. I may even devote time to creating content beyond written text, including guided lectures and videos, for my long-dormant YouTube channel. This channel previously enjoyed significant reach in the past and most definitely deserves a revival yet again due to my new found knowledge and advancements LLMs that are most definitely something worth sharing given such the emergent state AI is still in. Stay tuned for more updates and thank you for your continued support. - Ziping Liu Drag your file here. Select your file Or drag & drop next time Who are you? Although I'm involved in open-source software development, I do this work in my free time outside my professional obligations and thus when time permits. I am no longer actively seeking new employment and work opportunities in development operations and software engineering in web technologies. I am not subject to any non-compete, contractual, or non-disclosure agreements, including any from my most recent employer, Amazon Web Services. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In April 2008, I began my journey of providing educational content through my YouTube channel, which now features videos with millions of views each. What started as a way to share my knowledge and interest in technology and software development has grown into a resource that helps millions of people worldwide. Check out my YouTube channel here.
