THE HOUSE OF THE LORD

"The temple is a place of holiness. It is the most sacred and holy place on
earth and should be treated with the greatest degree of reverence and respect."

ELDER BEDNAR PRESIDES AT THE LAYTON UTAH TEMPLE DEDICATION

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve
Apostles dedicated the Layton Utah Temple. He was accompanied by his wife,
Susan; Elder Brian K. Taylor, General Authority Seventy and Second Counselor in
the Utah Area Presidency, and his wife, Jill; and Elder Kevin R. Duncan, General
Authority Seventy and executive director of the Temple Department, and his wife,
Nancy. Elder Bednar encouraged those who will worship and serve in this house of
the Lord to build a “covenant connection” with Heavenly Father through what they
learn there.

ELDER CHRISTOFFERSON DEDICATES THE SALTA ARGENTINA TEMPLE

Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the
Salta Argentina Temple on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Elder Christofferson served as
a full-time missionary in the Argentina North Mission from 1964 to 1966. He
recalled working as a young missionary to help build the first chapel in Salta
on several preparation days, then later returning with his mission president,
President Richard G. Scott, when the chapel was dedicated in 1966. "This temple
and all latter-day temples constitute our visible, tangible testimony of the
living reality of the Redeemer, since without His Atonement and Resurrection,
the temple would serve no purpose," he said.

STOCKHOLM SWEDEN TEMPLE IN EARLY PHASES OF RECONSTRUCTION

Reconstruction of the Stockholm Sweden Temple is in the early stages. The former
building was demolished in February, and site work for the new temple began
shortly afterward. Although the exterior will look very much like the original,
the new temple has been designed with numerous structural improvements and a
redesigned interior that spans two levels instead of one. A variety of heavy
equipment is on site.

CLEARING THE BASEMENT OF THE PROVO UTAH TEMPLE

Demolition continues of the Provo Utah Temple, which will be replaced with the
new Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple. Heavy machinery is sorting and removing the
final pieces of debris from the basement before the concrete walls are fully
removed. The temple is located at the mouth of Rock Canyon, across the street
from the Provo Missionary Training Center and just north of Brigham Young
University. It has long been considered one of the busiest temples in the
Church.
