COVID-19: AN INCREASE OF MORE THAN 181,000 CASES REPORTED IN US

According to CDC's COVID Data Tracker on May 26, 2022 5:37 pm ET, the case count
of COVID-19 in the US stands at 83,590,446* cases, including 1,000,980* deaths,
in 55 (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Marianas,
and US Virgin Islands) jurisdictions, while 181,345 new cases and 695 new deaths
were reported. 

Additionally, the CDC noted that a total of 258,394,333 (77.8%) people have
received at least one dose of vaccine, 221,128,528 (66.6%) people have been
fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the US; meanwhile 103,110,612 (46.6%)**
people have received a first booster dose. 

* As of April 14, 2020, CDC case counts and death counts include both confirmed
and probable cases and deaths. 

** The count of people who received a first booster dose includes anyone who is
fully vaccinated and has received another dose of COVID-19 vaccine since August
13, 2021. This includes people who received a first booster dose and people who
received additional doses.

The 20 jurisdictions with the highest case counts, and their daily additional
confirmed cases and deaths (in brackets) over the week are compiled as follows.

" The California Department of Public Health noted that the COVID-19 data are
posted two times a week on Tuesdays and Fridays; the data stated were as of May
24. The additional cases and deaths on May 24 represented new cases and deaths
reported to the CDPH since May 20.



# Cases and deaths for Florida and Tennessee were obtained from the CDC site as
no latest data were available from the state department of health,
respectively. 

^ The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) and
the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) noted that the COVID-19 data are posted once
a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively; the data stated for South
Carolina were as of May 21 (posted on May 24), whereas the data for Ohio were as
of May 26. The corresponding additional cases and deaths represented new cases
and deaths reported to the SCDHEC and ODH since May 14 (posted on May 17) and
May 19, respectively.

+ The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH), the North Carolina Department of
Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), the Georgia Department of Public Health
(DPH), the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the
Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) noted that the COVID-19 data are
posted once a week on Wednesdays; the data stated were as of May 25,
respectively. The corresponding additional cases and deaths on May 25
represented new cases and deaths reported to the Pennsylvania DOH, NCDHHS,
Georgia DPH, MDHHS and ADHS since May 18. 

~ The Indiana Department of Health and the Washington State Department of Health
noted that the COVID-19 data are posted three times a week on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays; the data stated were as of May 25, respectively. The
corresponding additional cases and additional deaths on May 23 and May 25
represented new cases and deaths reported to the respective state department of
health since May 20 and May 23.
