A BEAUTIFUL BATTERY HOG

I wanted to wait to write a review until I had used these garlands for one full
"season". The garland is absolutely beautiful and very high quality. They don't
shed, they fluff up nicely, and they stayed in place on my stair railings very
well all season. I have nothing but great things to say about the look. My one
and only complaint is that they are complete battery hogs. I thought it would be
really convenient to have batteries vs. electrical cords, but I am not so sure
now. This double pack of garlands takes 16 AA batteries each time. There are
timer options ranging from 4 to 6 to 8 hours daily. I started at 8 hours and
gradually reduced to 6 hours and then 4, but I didn't notice a big change in
battery usage. I had to change them 3 times between Thanksgiving and Christmas,
and I am taking them down on January 2, and they are ready to be changed again.
That is a total of 64 AA batteries in just about one month's time. That seems
excessive to me. I also have an outdoor garland set from Balsam Hill which takes
C batteries, and I never had to change them once in the same amount of time.
They are still shining brightly at 6 hours per night. I don't know if I got a
faulty set or if that's the best that AA batteries can do. I would love to give
these 5 stars, but the battery usage and expense forces me to take them down to
3 stars. Other than that, I highly, highly recommend them.
