ABOUT THE TOOLKIT

The Santander Speak toolkit has been developed to help all colleagues to feel
better prepared and more comfortable in speaking up and raising a concern – from
noticing a problem and having a conversation through to what to expect if your
concern is more formally investigated. It is a resource that has been developed
using first-hand experience and understanding of the emotional impact of raising
a concern, coupled with the Institute for Business Ethics’s knowledge of what
constitutes good practice for organisations receiving those concerns.

Speaking up is often an experience that can provoke a mix of emotions; it can be
complex and feel daunting. The toolkit will ask you to choose how you feel in
response to questions so you can receive appropriate guidance that recognises
your emotional reactions and guides you to resolving your concerns. The Toolkit
highlights the importance of having conversations, as issues are usually best
resolved as soon as possible and amongst colleagues and it suggests Santander
resources that may further support you in raising a concern.

The Santander Speak Up Toolkit is a resource that you can dip in and out of. It
offers support and guidance through every step of your Speak Up journey.

Use of the tool is completely confidential. There is no registration process and
you are not required to provide any information.

USING THIS TOOLKIT

Click Get started and then choose one of the five stages of the Speak Up
journey.

For each step of the journey you can choose a question and then select the
emotion you feel most close to. You will then see some guidance and find out
what other Santander resources can help you.

I have a concern – you’ve noticed something has happened, what are the common
worries around speaking up, why should you speak up and how do you go about it?

Speaking to someone – how can you prepare to have a conversation, who should you
speak to and what happens after that?

Reporting a concern – how can you prepare to report a concern, how do you
actually do it and what happens after you report?

Investigation is underway – what are the steps of an investigation, what is your
role within that and who will be involved?

Feedback and monitoring – what is the outcome and what are yours and your
organisation's ongoing responsibilities?

Links to other Santander resources shared in this toolkit will only work if you
are connected to the RAS network.

Your use of this toolkit is completely confidential.

WE USE COOKIES TO GIVE YOU THE BEST POSSIBLE ONLINE EXPERIENCE

Essential cookies make this website work and are for your security.

To help personalise and tailor content to you here and on other websites, we use
optional cookies.

We won’t use these without your consent.

Our Cookie Policy is at the bottom of our homepage. You can change your
preferences by selecting ‘Manage my settings’ at any time.

COOKIE POLICY

Our website uses technology to collect information about its use, to distinguish
between users, to help us provide you with a good experience and to allow us to
improve the site and the service we offer. This means that when you visit our
website, cookies or similar technologies will be placed on your computer or
other device.

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone or

and allows us, or our third party partners (see below) to recognise you and make
your visit easier and more useful to you when you revisit our website.

TYPES OF COOKIES

The length of time a cookie stays on your device depends on its type. We use two
types of cookies on our website:

 * Session cookies are temporary cookies which only exist during the time you
use the website (or more strictly, until you close the browser after using
the website). Session cookies help our website remember what you chose on the
previous page, avoiding the need to re-enter information and improve your
   experience whilst using the website.
 * Persistent cookies stay on your device after you’ve visited our website. For
example, if you tick the 'Remember my ID' box when you log onto Online
Banking a persistent cookie will be used, so that the website remembers you
the next time you use it. Persistent cookies help us identify you as a unique
   visitor.

To help you understand cookies and the reasons for them, we’ve provided a
description of each cookie that we use, what it does, and whether or not it
collects personal data about you. Personal data means data which identifies or
can be used to identify you as an individual, including online identifiers such
as your IP address. It also includes pseudonymous identifiers (e.g. strings of
numbers or letters) if it is possible for us to identify you from these.
