HSBC Bank Oman SAOG (HSBC Oman) shareholders vote to approve merger with Sohar
International Bank SAOG (Sohar International)

 

Following discussions which began in June 2022, Sohar International and HSBC
Oman have been working closely on a proposed merger.

 

We can confirm that the shareholders of HSBC Oman voted in favour of the merger
with Sohar International at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on 20
June 2023. The shareholders of Sohar International have also voted to approve
the merger.

 

We're working closely with Sohar International to ensure a smooth process that
will cause the minimum amount of disruption to our customers and, together, have
set a tentative target date of 17 August 2023 as the date of completion of the
merger. This timeline remains subject to all formal steps and actions being
completed without any delays on account of factors beyond the control of HSBC
Oman and Sohar International. If it changes, we will let you know.

 

On completion of the merger, all HSBC Oman customers and colleagues will
automatically transfer to Sohar International, and the existing HSBC Oman entity
will be dissolved.

 

Communications will soon be issued to our customers to explain what the merger
means for them.

 

We'll make further announcements on any developments when required.
