What are the main topics and trends 2020 in regards to training in Banking & Finance? The banking industry is facing important changes and exhibits unique needs and challenges. The environment induced by negative interest rates imposes a risk positioning more important than ever and implies a highly qualified level of human resources. Thus, the talent development in the finance industry has become a key factor of sustainability. Regulatory compliance has, at the same time, become one of the most significant banking industry challenges as a direct result of the dramatic increase in pressure from regulatory bodies. From Basel’s risk-weighted capital requirements to GDPR and MiFID II requirements, the market is facing a growing number of regulations that banks and credit institutions must comply with; compliance can significantly strain resources and is often dependent on the ability of their staff to understand and anticipate the situations they are encountering. Employees of banks and financial institutions are therefore required to go through extensive trainings to understand, apply, and ultimately comply with these new constraints. This can mainly be achieved through training and upskilling, as expectations in terms of staff knowledge and competencies are growing. The MBA in Finance and Financial Instruments, a high level vocational training programme with international reach that also integrates the specificities of Luxembourg, goes beyond certifying MiFID II training courses required by law and allows employees to achieve and outpace those aims. How was the MBA in Finance and Financial Instruments conceived and what are its objectives? The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with ESLSCA Paris, a long established business and finance school, in a strive towards anchoring its know-how within the Luxembourg financial hub to support companies in their commitment to continuous improvement of the knowledge and skills of their employees. Together they have redesigned the MBA in Finance and Financial Instruments, a training programme providing a solid background for understanding every type of investment product or financial market. The programme is entirely devoted to mastering financial instruments in the broad sense. It also highlights the regulatory and compliance framework and especially its practical implementation in Luxembourg. The ambition of this curriculum is to encourage companies to develop their employees’ skills and to help them prepare for the future during a 15-month learning journey. The diploma is based on both ESLSCA Paris teachers and practitioners. This will place theoretical and conceptual aspects in perspective, and gives access to experienced practical experts who can put the training in the context of markets and daily challenges faced by the country. The main objectives are: - Define the main characteristics of financial instruments used in financial markets - Gain an in-depth understanding of how each instrument works and how to use it - Acquire a sound knowledge of the regulatory and compliance framework and how to use it in Luxembourg - Identify the major associated risks and mitigation strategies and techniques - Understand and handle upcoming technical developments and challenges in the finance sector Who is the MBA in Finance and Financial Instruments for? This vocational training programme is a career accelerator intended for all those working in the banking and investment funds sector as well as for auditors, business lawyers and other actors of the financial industry. It is particularly adapted to executives from the finance industry, who want to take a proactive approach to developing their professional skills while broadening their personal and professional horizons or make a career shift. It is addressed mainly to professionals who hold between two and ten years of experience in finance or related areas (middle/back office, risk management, investment funds, audit, law firm, etc.) who want to participate in a unique experience and build a solid and influential business network.
