afterthought, helps our country thrive. Together, we will empower Americans from
every town, city, and home to better care for one another by demanding and
winning policy that better cares for us all.




OUR STORY


INSEPARABLE IS A CAMPAIGN TO WIN BETTER MENTAL HEALTH.

OUR JOB IS TO BE BOLD, TO TAKE RISKS—AND TO WIN MENTAL HEALTH POLICY WORTHY OF
THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP. PUT SIMPLY, WE ARE HERE TO WIN —AND FOR

How We Work


FEATURED CAMPAIGNS

There are a lot of problems that need to be addressed, but for us, three urgent
policy priorities rise to the top:

 * Eliminate the gap between the number of people who need help and the people
   who get help.
 * Ensure every school has services to provide for the health and well-being of
   all students.
 * Stop criminalizing mental illness and expand crisis response.
 *  

In all three areas, the need is urgent, people are ready for action, and
strategic leadership and courageous decision making will save lives in the
future. Here’s how we work together to advance policies and drive initiatives
that will ultimately improve and save lives.




IMPROVE CRISIS RESPONSE.

Ensure a better response to mental health crisis and stop criminalizing mental
illness. Too many of us are left desperate, struggling, in crisis, and often
with nowhere to turn. Let’s advocate for federal standards for crisis response;
coverage of behavioral health crisis services; Funding for the development of
crisis services in communities across the country; and coordination among 911
dispatchers and 988 crisis call centers.

CHAMPION YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH.

Ensure every school has services to provide for the health and well-being of all
students.

Inseparable has expanded school-based mental health care for children and youth
in Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Montana, New Jersey, Washington, and
is just getting started.

CLOSE THE TREATMENT GAP.

Eliminate the gap between the number of people who need help and the people who
get help. Inseparable expanded insurance coverage for people suffering from
mental health in Illinois.

We are advocating for increased access to mental health care. States should:

 1. Require coverage decisions to be consistent with “generally accepted
    standards of care” and based on transparent, publicly-available treatment
    guidelines and service intensity/level of care tools developed by relevant
    clinical specialties;
 2. Prohibit limiting coverage to short-term symptom reduction for chronic
    conditions, which leads to cycles of relapse and costly emergency department
    visits and hospitalizations; and
 3. Close gaps in the continuum of care by ensuring parity with physical health
    for behavioral health intermediate levels of care (such as residential
    behavioral health services or intensive outpatient therapy) and emergency
    services.

BUILD A MOVEMENT.

Mental Health Now is an initiative of Inseparable, an advocacy campaign working
to ensure that mental health is at the forefront of policy in this nation.
Mental Health Now recognizes candidates who commit to prioritizing mental health
policy. In 2022, more than 630 candidates and elected officials, from every
state in the country, signed the Mental Health Now statement of support.
