ASSURANCE FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND YOUR PEOPLE… WHAT IS ASBESTOS? Asbestos is the common name for any variety of silicate materials that are fibrous in structure and are resistant to acid and fire. Six mineral types are defined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as “asbestos”. All six asbestos mineral types are known to be human carcinogens. Asbestos literally is made of stone, a naturally occurring metamorphic rock. Amosite (Brown Asbestos) – Straight needle like fibres that naturally split along their long axis producing very fine fibres. Chrysotile (White Asbestos) – Mostly softer curlier fibres, which make them useful for weaving and has been used to make cloth for centuries. Crocidolite (Blue Asbestos) – Straight needle like fibres that naturally split along their long axis producing very fine fibres. Three rarer types of fibrous asbestos are Actinolite, Anthophyllite and Tremolite. CALL US AT HEALTHSAFE NOW! 0800 004 198 Call Now!
