In many of the resulting trials, the accused were denied a proper defence and a fair trial. There are extensive and credible reports of mistreatment and torture during their detention, while the lawyers who were detained have been disbarred and those released continue to be monitored. The European Union expects China to ensure full respect of the rule of law, to establish fair trial guarantees and to investigate thoroughly all reported cases of arbitrary detentions, ill-treatment and torture of human rights defenders and their families. The European Union also expects the Chinese authorities to immediately and unconditionally release, without any restrictions on their movement or work, all lawyers and legal activists imprisoned or persecuted by the authorities for their work before and since the “709 crackdown”, such as Yu Wensheng, Li Yuhan and Ge Jueping. The European Union will continue to call out and highlight the deteriorating situation of civil and political rights in China. This includes the recent detention of Professor Xu Zhangrun. The European Union will also continue to call out any violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms that occur, including under the new national security law imposed on Hong Kong. Link to statement on EEAS website 10-07-2020 | 06:53 INDONESIA - EUROPEAN AND DUTCH BORDER POLICY AS OF 1 JULY 2020 As of July 1, a new European border policy is valid, whereby the residents of 15 countries outside Europe, on a so-called green list, will regain access to Europe. This replaces the previous general entry ban that was valid from mid-March. The entry ban will continue to apply to all other countries not on this list. 03-07-2020 | 08:14 INDONESIA - EXPANSION OF CONSULAR SERVICES Following the regulations of the "New normal" by the local authorities and the EU restrictions as of 1 July 2020, the Dutch embassy in Jakarta has decided to expand the consular service. 03-07-2020 | 08:02 EMBASSY IN BELGRADE OPENING HOURS Dear clients, please be advised that the consular front office of the Embassy is closed due to the Corona virus. 22-03-2020 | 11:41 NO KING'S DAY AT DUTCH EMBASSIES Minister of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok has decided to cancel King’s Day at all of the more than 150 Dutch embassies and other Dutch representations abroad. ‘Given the rapid spread of the Corona crisis around the world, it is only logical to cancel the usual festivities this year,’ Mr Blok said. For many Dutch citizens abroad the annual celebration of King’s Day is a festive high point. It is the perfect opportunity to meet and catch up with each other. King’s Day is also a unique moment for Dutch representations to further intensify relations with local authorities and businesses. Depending on the country, the events are usually attended by a large number of people, varying from dozens to several hundred. The minister made the decision to provide clarity to Dutch representations abroad and visitors who intended to celebrate King’s Day there. It also avoids incurring costs that will later prove to be unnecessary. Moreover, in a number of countries, events and manifestations are no longer permitted. The cancellation of King’s Day abroad is in line with an earlier decision to cancel King’s Day in Maastricht in the Netherlands. 19-03-2020 | 03:43 DUTCH EMBASSY INDONESIA SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS 18-03-2020 | 07:47 SCHENGEN VISA SERVICE SUSPENDED We have been informed that as from today France has suspended its visa service until further notice.
