GET TO KNOW OUR COZY CABIN….

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHERE IS YOUR CABIN?

Our cabin is located near Etlan, VA, and the property borders Shenandoah
National Park. For privacy reasons, we do not disclose its exact location, but
you will of course be given that when you make a reservation.

HOW MANY GUESTS CAN STAY? WHERE ARE THE BEDS?

Our cabin can accommodate four people in beds, and up to six people with our
queen-size air mattress. There are two bedrooms (one with a king bed and one
with a queen). The air mattress can be set out on the floor in the living area
or, if the weather allows some guests like to sleep on the screened-in porch and
listen to the creek.

DO YOU ALLOW PETS?

Yes. Just please pick up after them.

IS THERE A FEE FOR BRINGING PETS?

No. We are pet-friendly and will not charge extra for your furry friends. (But
if our cleaning crew has to do extra work because of pet messes after your stay,
we will pass that cost on to you. This hasn’t happened yet!)

HOW’S THE KITCHEN?

Our kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator/freezer (with ice maker), gas range,
dishwasher, and microwave.

Other appliances include:

 * Coffee maker (automatic drip and French press)
 * Outdoor gas grill
 * Toaster
 * Blender
 * Hand mixer

WHAT’S THE COFFEE SITUATION?

We have an automatic coffee maker and a French press with a basic coffee
grinder. The cabin is stocked with ground coffee with ample caffeine but if
you’re a coffee snob you might want to bring your own beans.

CAN WE BUILD FIRES? DO YOU HAVE FIREWOOD?

Yes. We have a wood stove and an outdoor bonfire. The cabin comes stocked with
firewood for guests’ use.

We have a woodpile that is stocked for guests’ use, either in the wood stove
inside or at our outdoor bonfire.

I SWEAT WHEN I HIKE. CAN I DO LAUNDRY AT THE CABIN?

Yes. We have a washer, dryer, and detergent that guests are welcome to use.

Washer and dryer are available to guests.

DID SOMEONE SAY “HOT TUB?”

Yes, we have a hot tub under the stars that’s available for year-round use. We
drain the water and sanitize it regularly. Please do your part by showering
before entering.

Relax in the sun or under the stars, in our hot tub just off the porch.

HOW’S THE WI-FI?

We have LTE 4G cellular Wi-Fi, with typical speeds of 5–10 Mbps ↓ and 1–3 Mbps
↑. It’s generally good enough for Zoom and other video conferencing, and can
stream Netflix in a pinch. Please be judicious with using Wi-Fi, however, as
throttling can occur. Plus, you are here to enjoy the woods, not subpar
internet!

HOW DO I MAKE PHONE CALLS?

We no longer have a land line. To make phone calls, you must enable Wi-Fi
calling on your cell phone before your trip. Instructions for enabling Wi-Fi
calling on iOS and Android. This is a free feature that most modern cell phones
offer.

Cellular coverage is constantly improving and you may receive signal in the
yard. As of early 2022, weak T-mobile signal can be received in the yard.

TESTIMONIALS

I cannot say enough good things about our trip!! As soon as you arrive on the
property, you will immediately feel at home. Whether you are an avid hiker or
looking to unplug and sit by the fire, this is the place for you. We will most
definitely be back!!

The house was perfect for me, my husband, and our 5 year old. One of my favorite
Airbnbs we’ve ever stayed in. The location is great - close to hiking trails,
Sperryville, and the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. Thoughtful touches
all over the house - great binder of info, labeled light switches, games, dvds,
balls to play with outside - so much to do! The house was incredibly clean and
comfortable. Tracy was quick to respond to questions I had before our stay. We
would love to experience other seasons here!

This cabin is perfection. The location is beautiful, with tons to do on the
property. There was not a single thing that we wanted or needed during our trip
that was not available in the home. Our 5yr old had a blast exploring the
stream, playing in the yard, and the hot tub was a huge hit. It was so nice to
be able to bring our dog without any additional fuss or fees. The beds were
comfy, the kitchen remarkably well stocked, and all of the comforts of home were
available. I was pleasantly surprised by the satellite tv and internet — it was
better than I expected considering we couldn’t get cell service for more than 30
mins once we left the property. So many thoughtful details that made our stay
more enjoyable! We hope to come back in warmer weather when we can enjoy the
swimming hole and explore some more of the local amenities. Thank you, Tracy!

Ragged Run Roost is a fantastic hideaway that offers all the amenities of a
luxury retreat, easy access to local attractions, and yet isolated enough that
you’ll think you’re the only one in the world privileged enough to enjoy it!

This cabin is beautiful! It has an awesome location - you feel completely
secluded and a million miles away from DC (even though it’s just a few hours
drive). The property is gorgeous - we loved walking across the street to the
river and swimming hole. The porch makes you feel like you’re in a treehouse and
we spent every minute we weren’t outdoors sitting on the porch and listening to
the waterfall. We had a group of 6 and the cabin provided plenty of space. Thank
you for a restful and reenergizing weekend, Tracy!

This was the most incredible Airbnb we ever stayed in. There were endless things
to do in the cabin and outside… Our dog absolutely loved the space to roam and
run around in the yard. The fully stocked kitchen gave us an opportunity to make
our own meals and the huge TVs in pretty much every room gave us a pampered
baseball and football watching experience in the evening hours.

This cabin was phenomenal! It has all of the rustic appeal of a mountain cabin,
but was warm and inviting with modern design features, especially the great
windows and ergonomic built-ins. We really enjoyed the wood stove and the hot
tub as it was a little bit chilly. We cooked all of our meals in the
well-stocked kitchen with the charming skylight. We also made time for the local
mountain trails and wineries. We hope to come back in warmer weather and use the
swimming hole! Keith and Tracy provided us with everything we needed to have an
awesome stay!

What a wonderful cabin! We have stayed at a few in the area over the years, and
this was our favorite by far. This was our first trip with our young toddler,
and the space was perfect for our family. We cooked all our meals there, and
everything we needed was there to cook as we usually do. The bedrooms are
separated well so we could enjoy the rest of the comfortable cabin and peaceful
covered deck while our baby slept at night without being disturbed. It was a
great spot to start daily adventures in Shenandoah NP, and the hot tub was
heaven to relax our sore muscles at the end of the day.

A wonderful cabin, exactly as advertised, in a great location for hiking
Shenandoah and exploring local wineries and breweries. Cabin was clean and
incredibly well stocked, complete with hot tub, fire pit and private creek
access. Very private surroundings, with an attentive host who was also very
hands off once we arrived. Would happily stay here again.

Ragged Run exceeded our expectations! The 5-acre mountain side setting was quiet
and peaceful. The cabin was extremely clean, nicely decorated and well stocked.
The owners thought of everything! We spent our days hiking, with a visit to
Luray Caverns on a drizzly day and an afternoon at DuCard Winery which is only 2
miles away. Late afternoons we spent sitting in one of 4 seating areas on the
private stream that runs along the property, sharing a bottle of DuCard.
Evenings were lovely around the fire pit star gazing. Hot tub for cool weather,
private swimming hole for warm weather…this cabin has it all! We will be back!
