FIX TEXT COPYING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THIS WEBPAGE (CHROME, EDGE…) [MINITOOL TIPS]

COPYING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THIS WEBPAGE

When you are visiting a webpage, you may find some useful text contents. The
easy and direct method to record these texts is to copy and paste them to a Word
document. Then, you begin to use your mouse to select the text but only find
that you can’t make a selection. Another possibility is that you can select the
text but right-click is disabled, so you can’t copy text in that webpage.

HOW TO ENABLE TEXT SELECTION OR RIGHT-CLICK IN WEBPAGE?

These solutions revolve around these issues:

FIX 1: DISABLE JAVASCRIPT IN BROWSER

#Disable JavaScript in Chrome

If you encounter copy and paste not working in Chrome, you can follow these
steps to solve the issue:

Step 1: Open Chrome on your PC.

Step 2: Click the 3-dot menu on the top-right corner and go to Settings >
Privacy and security > Site settings.

Step 3: Scroll down to the Content section and select JavaScript.

Step 4: Select Don’t allow sites to use JavaScript under Default behavior.





#Disable JavaScript in Edge

Here is how to enable text selection in webpage in Microsoft Edge by disabling
JavaScript:

Step 1: Click the search icon in the taskbar and search for group policy. Then,
select the first result to open Local Group Policy Editor.

Step 2: Go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows
Components> Microsoft Edge.

Step 3: Find the Allow you to run scripts, like JavaScript option and
double-click it to open it. Then, select Disabled.

Step 4: Click Apply.

Step 5: Click OK.

#Disable JavaScript in Firefox

Step 1: Open Firefox.

Step 2: Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter. If you see any
messages, you need to confirm them to continue.

Step 3: You will see a list of Firefox preference. In the above, there is a
search box. You need to type javascript.enabled into the search box and press
Enter to locate this option.

Step 4: Double click javascript.enabled change its value to false.





#Disable JavaScript in Opera

Step 1: Open Opera.

Step 2: Click the Opera icon on the top-left corner, then select Settings.

Step 3: Type Javascript into the search box and press Enter.

Step 4: Go to Site settings > JavaScript.

Step 5: Select Don’t allow sites to use Javascript.






FIX 2: COPY TEXT FROM SOURCE CODE

If you still can’t copy text in a certain page, you can view the page source to
get the text you want to copy and paste. Here is how to enable text selection in
webpage via page source:

Step 1: Open the target webpage.

Step 2: Press Ctrl + U to open the view source page.

Step 3: Press Ctrl + F to open the Find dialog.

Step 4: Type a segment of the text you want to copy into the Find dialog.

Step 5: Find the text you want to copy, then select it and copy & paste it to
your specific location. You need to delete the extra code.






FIX 3: PDF TO WORD

If there is too much text, you can first convert it to PDF and then use an
online PDF to Word converter to convert it to Word. This way is very simple:

Step 1: Open the target webpage.

Step 2: Press Ctrl + U to call out the print page.

Step 3: Choose Save as PDF for Destination.

Step 4: Click Save and select a location to save the page as a PDF file.

Step 5: Go to find an online PDF to Word converter and convert the PDF file to
Word.






FIX 4: USE AN ALLOW COPY EXTENSION
