CHALLENGE

The iconic office tower complex located at 1, Place Ville-Marie, Montreal was
undergoing a redevelopment in order to reposition itself with premium amenities
in order to retain its stronghold on the AAA office market in Montreal.

SOLUTION
PRESENTED BY PJ GOUPIL

A lifestyle-oriented Food Hall concept that anchored the commercial space at the
heart of the office complex re- development. It features a multi-brand tenant
mix with 12 fast-casual counters, 3 sit-down restaurants and 2 bar areas. It
embraces the 20+ million annual foot traffic (pre-COVID) in the mass-transit
corridor surrounding the food hall, while providing a sense of calm & prestige
to the occupants. Its design is aimed at the young professionals representing
the bulk of the 11,000 workers while incorporating noble finishes and star chef
signed menus to please the C-Suite.

The once heralded Faubourg Sainte-Catherine was run- down and largely
inoccupied. It sat in a desolate portion of the densely populated Shaughnessy
Village. The mixed use complex needed to reposition dramatically capture the
captive student audience and Asian-immigrant residents surrounding it.

HOW WE DID IT

We created a 10,000 sqft anchor-tenant restaurant bar featuring an accessibly
priced Asian menu by international star chef Antonio Park. The space formerly
occupied by a movie rental store & hair salon was now revitalized as a
entertainment destination attracting white-collar after-work professionals for
diner, followed by university students at night. The eclectic design was
selected in the 2017 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and was applauded for its
unique use of the space.
