(Read the FAQ!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A NEW START In January 2005, Tlands' server had a disk crash. I was able to restore a large part of the content thanks to a kind reader's old site backup and the work of a just-hired webmaster -- but all of my scripts, semi-private material, and many new projects (such as the TTU Wiki) vanished entirely. The place has never really recovered. Since then, I've given some deep thought to what I want this site to be. Tlands used to be built around a hand-built webjournal, which I uprooted in favor of Movable Type in the year before the crash. Those MT posts have vanished with the rest of the bright shiny new journal (and redesign), and for the foreseeable future I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of setting up my own blog software again. In the meantime, I moved my regular writing efforts fully over to Livejournal (I've had a paid account there for a while; it's now permanent). So Tlands won't be the place to find the newest updates on my life any more. Considering that it's taken me about eight months to get around to even writing this notice, I'm not sure it's really going to be a place worth regularly visiting any more, either. I haven't had the heart for the sort of content and site reconstruction that would be necessary to make this a proper Internet destination. What I do want to do with Tlands is turn it into more of a content repository. At the moment, what this means is "content vault"; I have several years' worth of writings -- journals, fiction, essays, draconity resources -- that remain here, a written record of a grand and memorable period of my life. Those aren't going anywhere, even if my drive to properly re-categorize and re-link them for public access is low. Some content -- especially stuff written between 2003 and 2005 -- will have vanished; some will be hard to get to; but most of it should be there. If you're looking for something you know I've written, and have trouble getting to it, drop me a line (e-mail: baxil at tomorrowlands. org). In the future, more will show up here. I'll announce it in my Livejournal when it arrives. I'm still writing -- I've got some TTU stories on the front burner. I'm doing more hiking and have some exciting travel plans. There may even be some essays in the works. I never got around to posting the webcomic I once created ... you get the idea. I'm in a new phase of my life, but I'm not leaving the things I used to (and still) care about behind.
