MEETING PLANNING SERVICES Menu * * Planning Services * Calendar * Meeting Portal * Meeting Abstracts AUGUST 14–16, 2024 FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA/VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEETING OF PLANETARY GEOLOGIC MAPPERS MEETING DATES AND LOCATION The Annual Meeting of Planetary Geologic Mappers meeting is scheduled for August 14–16, 2024, at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff, Arizona with virtual participation available. PURPOSE AND SCOPE The annual meeting will bring together community members to report progress on geologic mapping projects, discuss a wide range of mapping strategies, and coordinate map-based scientific investigations of planetary surfaces at multiple scales. Abstracts are solicited for topics including progress reports on active mapping investigations, mapping strategies, and community resources and education, among others. Group discussions will address map data standardization and dissemination, map-based investigations of geologic processes, ways to modernize and improve geologic maps for human and robotic exploration, and uses of geologic maps to support exploration. The meeting is planned in coordination with the Workshop on Terrestrial Analogs for Planetary Exploration (August 12–14, 2024). Participants are encouraged to attend both meetings. An optional field trip will be held on the morning of August 14, 2024. The field trip will be followed by a joint community discussion in the afternoon to discuss topics of interest to both the analog and planetary mapping communities. More details will be available soon.
