Lana Del Rey TRENDING REVIEWS album ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION Miley Cyrus • Album I WISH SUMMER NEVER ENDED. starstarstarstarstar star star star star star star star star star star Miley Cyrus is an artist who I’ve always liked, whether it’s her early post-Hannah Montana country days or her blantant culture vulture rap phase. But I’ve come to appreciate her more especially with the Stevie Nicks-inspired Plastic Hearts. Endless Summer Vacation moves away from those influences a tad in a more general pop and adult contemporary sound that I’m not necessarily mad at but wish she did a little more with. The approach here to me sounds a tad safe, albeit still really pleasant and blissful to the ears. The production is clean, crisp and tasteful. There are time where I’m not as big a fan of the silly lyricism or some sections of Miley’s vocals but overall she pulled through in regards to what I’d expect from her in terms of performance. I also thought that quick transition away from the slower, ballad-esque cuts into the dancier, more synth-driven tracks was a but jarring towards the middle section of the record. Although I prefer Plastic Hearts by a smidge, this was still a very good pop record that blends elements of country, synthpop and soul. The Fullback and the Tight End are both on the left to block for the Running Back when the play is in motion Both Wide Receivers are on the right to keep the Corners away from the ball. And because of both WR’s being over there, at least one Linebacker should be there to tackle the WR’s, even though the ball isn’t going to them. Now I didn’t take Safety’s into account, I guess we gotta hope that the RB is good enough to dodge them Also this is assuming that there are 4 Defensive Lineman, and the SAM LB is towards the WR’s. The WILL LB is in the middle, and the MIKE LB is towards the Tight End, which is who he’ll be blocking. It’s been a while since I’ve heard a solid Meek Mill and Rick Ross record individually, so I was even surprised these guys decided to collaborate for a full LP after all these years. Now while this record isn’t awful, it’s not spectacular either. I was hoping that Rick Ross would bring the mafioso and luxury raps that were showcased on his more recent collaborations with the Griselda collective. But having to compromise to a more hardcore and trap-driven record to match Meek’s energetic flows had to be the move here, logically. And to their credit, I find them to still showcases a great deal of chemistry. The issue is that similar to the 2 Chainz and Wayne project, this early to mid 2010s vibe they’re going for makes this project sound a tad dated. Production across the board is serviceable and clean, yet the performances and lyricism are all things that are expected - so nothing new here. It’s still quite solid with some bangers here and there but isn’t interesting enough to garner listens from newcomers to their music. I wanted to revisit some albums I saved in my Spotify library and realized I totally missed this new ANOHNI record, a release with her Anohni and the Johnsons outfit. This project totally got swept under the rug but I’m so glad I gave it a chance. This record is simply beautiful and probably my favorite ANOHNI project to date. Her experimental approach to blues and soul here is so refreshing. I find that the minimalist approach to the instrumentation does absolute wonders for her vocal performances throughout, all of which have a very retro approach to these arrangements. To me it’s her most accessible and “clean” project but the record has moments that are equally chilling and unsettling despite its bits of serenity and emotion. She definitely needs her respect as a vocalist and songwriter, these tracks are remarkable. Definitely in my running for some of the top albums of 2023 for sure. However, I must admit that it left me somewhat disappointed. The album carries a chaotic energy, sometimes in a good way, but occasionally it becomes overwhelming, pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone. My primary concern revolves around the brevity of many songs; they have the potential to be great but end abruptly before I can fully immerse myself. Additionally, the album's eclectic nature, while appealing to many, felt a bit overwhelming for me personally. As is typical with Kanye's albums, there's a plethora of features, and some of my favorites include Kendrick Lamar, Sia, and Sampha. I particularly appreciate how Frank Ocean has an entire song to himself – a charming touch. What stands out to me about Kanye's discography so far, is the stark contrast between each album. They are remarkably different from one another, and "The Life of Pablo" feels like the most quintessential Kanye album yet. It's hard to articulate, but there's a distinct Kanye essence throughout. I'd like to touch upon the album cover, possibly my favorite among Kanye's works. The vibrant orange and its storytelling perfectly align with the songs within. The juxtaposition of a family picture and a nearly naked woman prompts a thought-provoking question – "which one?" It exudes chaos and fun, mirroring the album's essence. Entering controversial territory, "Famous" is a contentious song accompanied by a provocative music video featuring wax figures of prominent figures in a shared bed Naked. While I won't delve into the lyrics, I appreciated the track and its visual representation. In conclusion, despite some reservations, I found "The Life of Pablo" to be an enjoyable experience. Standout tracks for me include the captivating opener "Ultralight Beam," the concluding "Saint Pablo," and the compelling "Wolves." Thanks for reading, and my next stop in Kanye's discography will likely be "Yeezus". Ones that deliberately impersonate more prominent accounts and go out of their way to mimic their online activity as a clear bid for attention and creating chaos here. Some of these accounts will use derogatory language, cusses and slurs directed at other users under posts which disrupts the conversational and fun vibe usually happening in the comments section. I have blocked these accounts and they were still able to continue to post under my posts and have reported them multiple times and it seems that no action has been taken since I first reported this to two weeks ago. This is frustrating primarily for the people being impersonated and harassed. So with that being said, Musicboard admin. I just have one question for you. What's the plan? With all due respect it seems like many times when there is an issue or when harmful language is used or appears under posts or a user is harassing people and when it is reported from my experience no real action seems to be taken and I find that to be a major blind spot that Musicboard really should work on correcting in my opinion. But I do want to know from Musicboard admin seriously. What is the protocol or course of action for dealing with these clone accounts? Is any action being taken? If none yet for some reason how can we have a larger discussion to solve this issue? Even if it includes preventative measures. Like for example other sites have software or a feature that will say if a username is already taken. Is there something in place or that can be put in place to prevent users from creating an account with the same username as another account? I'm not sure but think that could help a lot. I also think a discussion needs to be had on the process of dealing with reporting hateful behavior and harassment and what that reporting process looks like, what happens after that and realistically what the outcome is of that as of now. I love Musicboard and having a place to review music and have a great interactions with fellow music lovers. But it's incidents like these that don't make this feel like a safe space to be able to do that and something that isn't entirely preventable I understand but it feel like more needs to be done to improve upon this. If anyone has any additional thoughts or comments on this topic I'd love to hear them in the comments. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has something to say about this.
