CIOs looking to skill up their organisation and fill roles face serious
recruitment and skills challenges that go beyond the high demand and competition
for skills in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence; Cloud Computing; Data
Science; Blockchain; Cyber and Robotics.

While demands for these skills are pushing salary expectations through the roof,
leaders must adapt to the new realities of employee management.

So how will CIOs find new people while nurturing existing teams presents huge
challenges?

Larry Fink, Blackrock CEO, in his 2022 letter to CEOs said: “A more competitive
landscape for talent, [is] pushing companies to create better, more innovative
environments for their employees. Companies that deliver are reaping the
rewards. Our research shows that companies who forged strong bonds with their
employees have seen lower levels of turnover and higher returns through the
pandemic.”

This session will explore the hard choices and softer options for successful
recruitment and management of IT teams – especially for those who don’t have big
tech’s deep pockets.

It will cover:

 * Retrain or replace? The pros and cons of different approaches to team
   development
 * Managing wage inflation for key skills without disincentivising people
 * Is it just about the money? What do workers really want? Attracting under 30s
 * Trust me I’m a CIO – maintaining productivity by getting team buy in for
   change
 * Sharing the vision, creating a culture of inclusion, trust and transparency

Join us on March 10th for the next CIO Crowd community discussion about CIOs and
team leadership.
