CANADIAN ANTI-SPAM LEGISLATION INFORMATION Bow Valley College complies with Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL) that regulates the sending of all commercial electronic messages. CASL prohibits sending commercial electronic messages (CEMs) without the consent of the message's recipient. Bow Valley College is a public educational institution whose "core activities" involve the provision of education services. Like many other education providers, we do not consider our "core activities" (and those activities necessarily related to our core activities) to be commercial in nature. Accordingly, electronic messages related to our core activities are not commercial, therefore, not regulated by CASL. CASL will nonetheless impact some of Bow Valley College's electronic communications if they are not part of our core activities, and are commercial in nature. Below is a summary of how we will handle electronic communications with learners and others with whom we communicate, including how to unsubscribe from CEMs. APPLICANTS If you have applied for a credit or non-credit program or course at Bow Valley College, we will communicate with you as necessary to further our consideration of your application (including admission and registration). Such communications pertain to our core activities and so are not regulated by CASL. If you want to withdraw your application, you can email the Registrar at registrar@bowvalleycollege.ca. CURRENT LEARNERS Bow Valley College requires the ability to electronically communicate with our current learners. You will receive electronic communications regarding our core activities, at your mybvc email address and/ or your personal email address where provided. The communications will include such things as: academic courses/programs information; administrative information (including from the Registrar's Office); information about learner services, benefits and events (including orientation); Student eNews (newsletters); and, administrative information. You may not unsubscribe from receiving these types of messages about core activities related to learners. Current learners can update their contact information, including personal email addresses, by logging into mybvc Under CASL, we also have implied consent to send our learners commercial electronic messages (CEMs), for example, about non-core activities. In the event you are sent a CEM, you may unsubscribe from receiving a CEM at any time. You will either be able to click on the unsubscribe button (where there is one provided on the electronic communication sent to you) or, if no unsubscribe button, you can email the sender that you do not want to receive further CEM's from that sender. E-NEWSLETTERS Bow Valley College sends e-newsletters to a variety of individuals and groups for various purposes, most of which are related to our core activities. Others may be commercial in nature. Current learners cannot unsubscribe from College e-newsletters related to core activities (for example, Student eNews). Anyone may unsubscribe from commercial e-newsletters at any time by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of that e-newsletter. As a general practice, e-newsletters will have an unsubscribe link even if they do not contain any CEMs (or you can email the sender that you no longer want to receive that newsletter). If you are receiving multiple College e-newsletters, you will need to unsubscribe to each one separately (or email each sender separately). ALUMNI If you attended a Bow Valley College credit or non-credit program or course, whether or not you completed or graduated, you are a lifetime member of Bow Valley College Alumni (conditional on being in good standing with the College). As a member of our alumni, you will receive electronic communications from Bow Valley College, including the Alumni e-newsletter. You may unsubscribe anytime from receiving CEMs as well as the Bow Valley College Alumni e-newsletter (even if it does not contain CEMs), by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of an e-newsletter, by replying to the sender directly, or by contacting alumni@bowvalleycollege.ca. PROSPECTIVE LEARNERS If you have not yet applied to Bow Valley College, but you have requested information about a program or course, we can respond to your inquiry and provide you with relevant information. If you no longer wish to receive information about our courses or programs, please reply directly to the sender of the electronic communication. DONORS Electronic communications sent out by a registered charity for the primary purposes of raising funds are exempt from CASL legislation. Bow Valley College is a registered charity. If you no longer wish to receive these types of electronic communications, please use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of an e-newsletter or reply directly to the sender. STAKEHOLDERS If you are a stakeholder, partner, part of our business community, etc., we would like to keep in touch with you and continue to send you electronic information about such things as campus events, activities, job fairs and open houses. If you would no longer like to receive this type of information, please reply directly to the sender (or unsubscribe where that option is specifically provided). MESSAGES RECEIVED IN ERROR Do you feel that you received an email or other electronic communication from Bow Valley College in error? If so, please reply directly to the sender to notify them of the error. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTACT US BOW VALLEY COLLEGE 345 - 6 Avenue SE 866-428-2669 info@bowvalleycollege.ca RELATED LINKS * Executive Offices and Governance * Our Community Give to Bow Valley College Connect with us info@bowvalleycollege.ca 403-410-1400 1-866-428-2669 (toll free) DIRECTORY CALGARY DOWNTOWN * Bow Valley College * 345 - 6 Avenue SE, * Calgary, AB T2G 4V1 ALL CAMPUSES Facebook Twitter Instagram LinkedIn STUDENT SERVICES * Academic Services * Finances * New Student Orientation * Office of the Registrar * Get Working * Living in Calgary * Learner Success Services * Student Association * Systems Status * RGO Library and Learning Commons * Intercultural Centre * Iniikokaan Centre * Bookstore SCHOOLS & CENTRES * Centre for Entertainment Arts * Chiu School of Business * Continuing Learning * School of Community Studies * School of Foundational Learning * School of Global Access * School of Health & Wellness * School of Technology * International Education * Regional Stewardship ABOUT * Alumni * BVC & the Environment * Careers at Bow Valley College * Donors * Events * Faculty & Staff * News Media Releases * Offices & Governance * Pivot Ed * PSI Partners * Publications * Teaching & Research CAMPUSES * Airdrie * Banff * Calgary * Cochrane * Okotoks * Strathmore Copyright 2022.
