The Dragon's Dogma 2 Wiki covers all you need to know on your journey as the Arisen in Dragon's Dogma 2, from information on DLCs, Combat basics, Weapon and Armor Lists, Skill Trees to a game completion Walkthrough, Quest Guides, Builds for both you and your Pawn, how to get certain Endings and more for Dragon's Dogma 2. The Dragon's Dogma 2 Wiki will keep you up-to-date on news and data for this 10-year awaited sequel to Dragon's Dogma. WHAT IS DRAGON'S DOGMA 2? Dragon's Dogma 2 is the greatly anticipated sequel to Dragon's Dogma, initially released in May 2012. Like it's predecessor, it is an open-world RPG that features a map and world four times the size of the first game. Published by Capcom and developed by Capcom members who previously worked on other Capcom entries such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. After twelve years of waiting, Dragon's Dogma 2 finally comes out to PC and consoles. The game takes place in a parallel world to the first game. Rather than return to the island of Gransys, Dragon's Dogma 2 takes place in two brand new regions - Vermund and Battahl. Though in a different world, the Dragon continues to be a potentially world-ending threat, and the Arisen the only one that can face it and save the world. Dragon's Dogma 2 continues to adopt the revolutionary combat system that Dragon's Dogma featured, only better. Choose one of four base Vocations, then evolve it into an Advanced Vocation. Make use of the environment, as well as the game's grabbing and scaling mechanics to take out enemies effectively, efficiently, and with style. WHEN WILL DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 BE RELEASED? Dragon's Dogma 2 is scheduled to release on March 22, 2024, on the following platforms: PC (Steam), PlayStation®5, and Xbox Series X|S. WHEN WAS DRAGON'S DOGMA ANNOUNCED? Dragon's Dogma 2 was announced to the surprise of fans during Dragon's Dogma's 10th Anniversary. The livestream presentation held on the 16th of June 2022, mainly intended to give insights on Dragon's Dogma development, featured a very short segment at the end to briefly announce that the same developers were working on a sequel. The first proper teaser trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2 came out on May 25, 2023. WHAT PLATFORMS IS DRAGON'S DOGMA AVAILABLE ON? Dragon's Dogma 2 is available on PC, as well as on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation®5, and uses Capcom's Resident Evil engine. As they’ve been releasing amazing remakes and new games alike with this engine, get ready to experience the beautiful landscapes of Dragon's Dogma with next-generation graphics and systems. WHAT ARE CHANGES COMING TO DRAGON'S DOGMA 2? Dragon's Dogma 2 will let players access new vocations that have unique playstyles and capabilities. The Mystic Spearhand stands out as one of the most adaptable Vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2, wielding the versatile Dupsear weapon for melee engagements while also infusing their strikes with magic. This dynamic blend results in visually captivating attack sequences, where both melee and magical elements intertwine seamlessly to produce distinctive combat interactions. Players must strive to strike a delicate balance when harnessing the abilities of the Mystic Spearhand. The Trickster class stands out as exceptionally unique within RPG settings, offering a novel gameplay experience. However, damage dealing is not the primary focus of Tricksters, who primarily serve as party tanks. The Warfarer Class on the other hand is jack of all trade class, capable of handling any combat situations thanks to its ability to wield all types of weapons. We have also seen the return of Pawn dialogues, chatter, and interactions. Pawns continue to provide helpful information and guide you if they know your existing Quest, current location, and even NPCs. While in combat, the Pawns will fight alongside you and do their best to aid you. They will provide support by healing, adding elemental damage to your attacks, and more. This largely depends on the command that you give them and the skills available to them. And just like in the original game, when your Pawns get downed, you will need to revive them by going over to their spot. A red ping and an alert will inform you of the Pawn's location. You can now carry and take them to a safe location to revive them. Dragon's Dogma 2 combat now features the Loss Gauge. This is the health temporarily lost due to the damage sustained by the Arisen and Pawns. The Health Bar is represented by the green line directly on top of the Stamina Bar located at the lower center of the interface. The greyed-out portion indicates the Loss Gauge which limits the Health Points of the Arisen, even if you consume food or potions to recover health. The Health loss will persist until your party rests at an inn or a campsite. DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Release Date March 22, 2024. This is an advanced system that allows players to carve their paths and choose from pre-determined classes that will dictate their playstyle, combat abilities, and strategies. Unlike the original game in which players unlocked advanced vocations by leveling up the base ones, in the sequel, players unlock them by completing a quest. Below, you will find details on the newest vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2, the Trickster. The concept behind this vocation is to introduce an Arisen-exclusive class focused on dealing damage without actually dealing damage. DD2 TRICKSTER VOCATION HOW DOES THE TRICKSTER WORK IN COMBAT? Not only players will be able to draw enemy attention by releasing smoke AOEs, but also summon Simulacrums. Simulacrums can be a great companion when it comes to getting enemy aggro. Simulacrums will disappear once their health bar is depleted, but with the Trickster skills, they can also transport that clone near them to take it out of the fight. Down the line, Tricksters will learn skills that will allow them to create surfaces and environments that will appear real to enemies and will trick them into possibly falling into pits or a wall of smoke that only you can see through. DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 TRICKSTER GAMEPLAY AND COMBAT DETAILS The Simulacrums will disappear once its health bar is depleted, but with the Trickster skills, they can also transport that clone near them to take it out of the fight. Down the line, tricksters will learn skills that will allow them to create surfaces and environment that will appear real to enemies and will trick them into possibly falling into pits or a wall of smoke that only you can see through. Trickster, by far, is one of the most unique classes that we have seen in an RPG setting ever. Dealing with damage is not the main focus of Trickers as this class will save as a tank of the party. To ensure that the other DPS characters in the party are well-equipped to do most of the damage. While the aerial combat and environment interaction has been improved since the original game, the Trickster feels like it may not deal enough damage to tankier and stronger foes compared to other existing Vocations, especially when up against Bosses like in Everfall. Although there is an option for Tricksters to damage enemies, it is by interacting with environmental objects and throwing them at the enemies. DD 2: MYSTIC SPEARHAND VOCATION The Mystic Spearhand vocation is the melee counterpart to the Magick Archer, of some sort. If you have played the original game Dragon's Dogma, then you may have come across the ranged Magick Archer that excels in ranged combat with its magic-imbued arrows. On the other hand, the Mystic Spearhand is a new vocation exclusive only to the Arisen, capable of both melee and magic attacks. From what we know, this is an Advanced Vocation, if the game follows the same system as the original game, this vocation becomes available later on as you progress, like choosing your Vocation path or changing it in Gran Soren Union Inn. HOW DOES THE MYSTIC SPEARHAND WORK IN COMBAT? Along with a new vocation, the Mystic Spearhand wields a new exclusive weapon available only to their class, called Duospear. This weapon is capable of handling enemies in close combat by physically attacking them with the dual-ended spear. One of the moves that we have seen from this Vocation is a spear spin where it damages nearby enemies surrounding them as they handle the weapon. DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 MYSTIC SPEARHAND GAMEPLAY AND COMBAT DETAILS Aside from its physical damage, the Mystic Spearhand can also utilize Magick. As the vocation progresses, a Mystic Spearhand can learn spells that can paralyze enemies, pick them up, and throw them at another enemy to deal damage. In one of the videos released by Capcom, this vocation also showed mobility skills like a blink strike where they moved instantly to the direction of the enemy to attack them. Although not yet confirmed, the Mystic Spearhand attacks appear to have a lightning effect on them. HOW TO PLAY THE MYSTIC SPEARHAND IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 The Mystic Spearhand is a perfect playstyle for those who prefer flashy attacks that can move in and out of fights. This is perfect for when you are fighting mobs of enemies and can even stand up to bosses. The well-balanced Mystic Spearhand will work excellently with support roles from their Pawns as we can see that this Vocation can effectively damage and neutralize enemies from any range. DD 2: WARRIOR VOCATION Warriors are at their best when fightning at the vanguard, cutting down foes with a single swing of their greatsword and charging through the enemy ranks without heeding their blows. Their attacks cleave a wide and devastating arc, but their movements are slow, and, stout as they are, they cannot withstand an onslaught indefinitely without aid. HOW DOES THE WARRIOR WORK IN COMBAT? Warriors are brutal melee fighters that wield massive greatswords and hammers. Their attacks are devastating and cover a wide area in the battlefield and are probably the most destructive melee vocation in the game, but on the other hand, their movements are slow. DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 WARRIOR GAMEPLAY AND COMBAT DETAILS Warriors not only rely on their massive weapons. They possess an ability called Barge, which allows them to execute a quick shoulder bash that may interrupt and potentially stun any enemy. This small addition aims to let warriors deal with their devastating charged attacks on stunned enemies. Warriors also possess a passive that allows them to swing their regular attacks much more quickly if they are able to precisely time their next button press with when the attack actually manages to land. This gives a certain rhythm to the warrior's attacks, making it much more effective than just button-mashing. HOW TO PLAY THE WARRIOR IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 The Warrior is an old-school, up-close and personal Vacation. Players who like being in the frontline dealing huge amounts of damage while wielding inhumanly-sized weapons will find the warrior to be the perfect class for them. DD 2: WARFARER VOCATION The Warfarer is an advanced vocation that acts as a Jack of all trades. First of all, it is able to wield all types of weaponry, giving it ample of experimentation regarding its builds and loadouts. This gives players a vast amount of customization when selecting a Warfarer. The Warfarer is a new Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2, and was not available in the previous game. Only the Arisen is capable of choosing the Warfarer. HOW DOES THE WARFARER WORK IN COMBAT? The Warfarer, as previously mentioned, is capable of using all available weapon types in the game. This makes adaptability its most important ability. It can switch on the go to a different weapon to adjust to different combat scenarios or combat phases. DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 WARFARER GAMEPLAY AND COMBAT DETAILS The Warfarer can fulfill many roles on the battlefield given its ability to wield all the weapon types available in the game. Players will have to read the battlefield, and learn what is the most beneficial option for them to switch to. They can switch from dealing massive damage with greatswords, to getting far away and using a ranged weapon to inflict damage from safety., or land quick hits with daggers. HOW TO PLAY THE WARFARER IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Given the nature of the Warfarer and its intrinsic ability to wield all types of weapons, its style of play may vary greatly depending on the weapon types used by the player. This is the Warfarer's biggest asset, being able to adapt to what the situation demands, being able to deal damage at any range. The catch to this Vocation's huge roster of tools is that its stats and general power are lower than an arisen fully focused on a single class, to make the most of its versatility and keep up with the DPS of the other vocations the player will have to utilize the singular strengths of each weapon at its fullest so you should expect a complex class with a high skill ceiling. EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 THE STORY OF DRAGON'S DOGMA Dragon's Dogma follows the story of the player character, a regular person hailing from the small village of Cassardis. While the knights of the nearby city are recruiting village residents into their order, Cassardis is suddenly attacked by a Dragon, an intelligent yet devastating creature that shows up sporadically across time to wreak havoc across the land. Being the only person to stand up against the threat, the Dragon takes the heart of the player character, marking them as the next Arisen. Strangely, the dragon attacks come to a halt after this incident. Throughout the game, the player character discovers their purpose as an Arisen - the Arisen is a person strongly connected to the Dragon who, due to their heart being taken, does not age. They must embark on a journey and gather strength to reclaim their heart from the Dragon. Our protagonist soon finds out that they do not have to travel alone, however. The village chief introduces the Arisen to a man named Rook and urges them to take Rook with them to the nearby encampment to start their journey. He explains that Rook is a Pawn, people from an unknown place who neither have emotions nor the will to act of their own volition. Later at the encampment, you learn that Pawns come from a mysterious place known as the Rift and that they exist to serve and aid the Arisen on their journey. Before they can command the Pawns, however, the Arisen are asked to prove themselves worthy of their services. Because of the Dragon's appearance, monsters have started becoming more hostile and aggressive. While the Arisen is staying the night at the encampment, a Hydra unexpectedly attacks, but is swiftly defeated by the Arisen's impressive martial prowess. Impressed by the feat, Mercedes, a soldier of noble blood from a neighboring duchy, promises to give in a good word for the Arisen to the duke. On top of this, the Arisen is granted full command of the pawn legion and has the freedom to choose their main Pawn, their closest confidant. With a hydra trophy in hand, the Arisen and the soldiers of the encampment make their way to the city of Gran Soren. There, the Arisen comes across the Pawn Guild, a place of respite for all Pawns run by Barnaby. In addition to being a gathering place for Pawns, the Pawn Guild acts as a gate to the Everfall, a sprawling dungeon ruin that lies beneath the city. The Everfall is a mystery to the people of Gran Soren, save for the fact that the Pawns are tied to the place somehow. Soon after, the Arisen are tasked to complete a series of Wyrm Hunts before they are granted an audience with the duke. These quests include meeting the Dragonforged, an ancient Arisen with great bouts of knowledge on the Dragon, and investigating Salvation, a cult dedicated to Dragon. Upon meeting the duke, and completing a set of Royal Orders, he invites the Arisen to his Treasury for a talk and some rewards for their hard work. Duke Edmund Dragonsbane was once an Arisen who earned his place as the Duke of Gransys after slaying the Dragon of his time. The Arisen is finally tasked with aiding the duke's soldiers with the Dragon on the front line. But before they get the opportunity to do so, an urgent report comes in that Salvation has taken over one of the duke's strongholds. After confronting the cult's leader and besting him in battle, the Dragon shows up and urges the Arisen to find him immediately. Later, it is revealed that the Dragon has taken the Arisen's beloved hostage and that he has a bargain for them. The Arisen can either choose to fight the Dragon to reclaim their heart, or they can sacrifice their beloved in exchange for the thing they want the most - be it power, knowledge, riches, etc. Should the Arisen agree to the latter, they become the new Duke of Gransys. Should the Arisen choose the former, however, a series of events is set into motion. The death of the Dragon returns not only the Arisen's heart but also the hearts of past Arisen who had taken the Dragon's offer. The Dragonforged crumbles into dust, leaving his Pawn behind, and the duke confines himself in his castle study, having aged rapidly. Upon returning to Gran Soren, cheers and celebration do not await the Arisen, but instead death and despair with the collapse of the Urban Quarter, exposing the Everfall to the surface. Enraged with the loss of his immortality, the duke accuses the Arisen of conspiring with the Dragon and destroying the city, causing all soldiers of the city to be hostile towards them. With nowhere left to run, the Arisen jumps into the crater leading into the Everfall where they meet Quince, a Pawn who helped an Arisen from another time battle the Dragon. She asks for aid in completing her master's quest of collecting Wakestones, after which she opens a rift leading into the Seneschal's Chamber. In the chamber, a mysterious figure challenges the Arisen with multiple trials with multiple choices to make. If at any point the Arisen falls in battle, they are shown to be reborn into the next Dragon. On the other hand, the Arisen has the choice to return to their peaceful life, before Cassardis was attacked by the Dragon. If they persevere and make it to the final trial, it is revealed that the Seneschal, the keeper of the world, sometimes referred to as God or The Maker, is in fact an Arisen that has demonstrated incredible willpower through their trial with the Dragon, and bested the previous Seneschal and their Pawn. By defeating the Seneschal in the final trial, the Arisen earns the title of Seneschal and all the responsibilities that come with it. Instead of fulfilling their role, however, they stab themselves with the Godsbane, the only blade able to kill the Seneschal. Their body plunges back down onto Gransys along with their Pawn. The story ends with the Pawn waking up in the Arisen's body on the beaches of Cassardis. WHAT'S NEW IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2? DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 STORY & SETTING Dragon's Dogma takes place in Gransys, one of many duchies and kingdoms in the game's world. The game makes mention of many other regions however, such as Hearthstone, Mercedes' homeland, Meloire, where Lady Aelinore hails from, the wastelands to the west of Gransys, an area dubbed 'the mainland' where the Grand Cathedral and Great Library are situated, and so on. The story of the Arisen commences with the theft of their heart by the Dragon. The overarching narrative focuses on the Arisen's quest to retrieve their heart from the Dragon through its defeat, accompanied by their faithful Pawns. Embarking on a journey to the principal realms of Vermund and Battahl, the Arisen seeks to acquire additional intelligence concerning the dragon and its location. In the kingdom of Battahl, known as the beastren realm, there exists a belief that Pawns bring about misfortune. Contrary to venerating the Arisen, this nation holds reverence for the Lambent Flame, with Empress Nadinia as the focal point of their faith. The Lambent Flame serves as the cornerstone of the beastren faith, providing unity and instilling the belief that it safeguards against catastrophe. Their perception of Pawns as harbingers of ill fortune stems from their creation by the Arisen, whom the beastrens hold in disdain, and the Pawns' unwavering loyalty to their creator's directives. PAWNS IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Pawns played a big role in Dragon's Dogma not only in terms of gameplay but also story. In the 10th Anniversary celebration message for Dragon's Dogma, director Hideaki Itsuno explained that while he envisioned Dragon's Dogma as an offline single-player game, he wanted there to be some feeling of connection with other players and characters, like in an online game. With this in mind, he and the team created the Pawns - support-oriented AI NPCs that feel and act like online companions. Being able to fully customize the player's main Pawns, from appearance to vocation, made them feel more attached to their Pawn. Moreover, the Pawn system allowed players to show off their creations through lending, hiring, and gifting other players' Pawns. Pawns are making a definite comeback in Dragon’s Dogma 2. We can expect them to be able to do the same things and more - call out enemy weakness, provide the player with crucial buffs and healing, and make an impact in the story. In addition to that, these Pawns will be more capable of even more precise decisions that help players in the midst of the battle, such as guiding players to new locations, and even giving players a high-five after a successful battle to make the experience. This gives players the experience of playing online with a party of other players. One new Pawn feature that will be coming to Dragon's Dogma 2 is the addition of Specializations. Each Pawn can have one Specialization - unique traits that will help the Arisen outside of combat, such as automatically translating the language of the elves to one that the Arisen can understand, or simply carrying some of the burden of loot when the Arisen is encumbered. The presence of the Riftstone has also been confirmed to return, suggesting the capability to lend the services of your Main Pawn to other players around the world. Capcom emphasize the game as a single-player, narrative-driven action RPG so chances are a bit slim for any multiplayer capability other than this. CHANGES TO PAWNS IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 The Original Game has established how Pawns can enhance the combat experience in Dragon's Dogma. They can do this by providing additional information to the enemies that you are up against. Sometimes, if a Pawn has available knowledge about a location, quests, or enemies, they will call out that to the whole party. Pawns now have additional features in Dragon's Dogma 2 and can now learn through their experiences, adventuring with the Arisen, and even with other players-- all of which will be reflected in their behavior. Aside from that, Pawns also have Specializations which is unique to them. They can have the ability to translate the Elvish language if they are nearby. The Elf World that once seemed so distant and impossible to understand is now within your reach. A Pawn with this specialization is useful once you begin exploring the Sacred Arbor, the elf settlement, where you can complete quests for the Elves there. There are many more specializations and this is just one of them. CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Dragon’s Dogma boasted an intricate Character Creation phase for its time, with options to change everything down to the pixel position of a variety of elements of the character’s face. With elevated graphics, we can expect even more layers of intricacy in Dragon’s Dogma 2, as well as the option to create an Arisen from the Beastren race, an all-new humanoid race with feline features. The character creation will feature immense freedom of creating in-depth character appearance. The community rejoices as they can mimic or recreate their iconic video game characters or movie icons currently. Dragon's Dogma 2 character creation is one the best character creation feature so far in the gaming space. Dragon’s Dogma also presented a fresh take on the class system, an RPG staple for character customization, ensuring every player’s enjoyment depending on their preferred playstyle. These Vocations along with their plethora of Skills are making a comeback in the sequel. Players are able to choose from four starting Vocations during Character Customization - Archer, Fighter, Mage, or Thief. The Archer specializes in long-ranged attacks with the bow & arrow. The Fighter emphasizes fighting in melee combat, effective as an offensive unit with the sword, while also being able to protect the party with their shield. The Mage focuses on using magick to deal long-ranged magickal damage, as well as support other members of the party with buffs and heals. Finally, the Thief focuses on being nimble around the battlefield, overwhelming abilities with positional advantages along with quick speedy attacks with their daggers. DRAGON'S DOGMA 2'S NEW VOCATIONS A handful of new vocations to choose from and each of them has its own playstyles and capabilities. Introducing the Mystic Spearhand, a fresh Hybrid vocation debuting in Dragon’s Dogma II, reminiscent of the original game’s Mystic Knight. This vocation excels in both melee combat and magick, offering versatility in close and long-range engagements. As a Mystic Spearhand, you wield the Duospear, an exclusive weapon tailored to this vocation. This unique weapon facilitates physical combat, allowing you to inflict damage upon multiple adversaries simultaneously, thanks to its lethal points positioned at both ends. Despite the apparent similarity in blending melee and magick abilities, the Magick Archer stands out as a more specialized class. In this vocation, all attacks are conducted purely through magick, even the arrows themselves possess a magickal essence. The Magick Archer predominantly excels in long-range combat, employing magickal arrows for shooting and casting spells. The Trickster emerges as another innovative Hybrid vocation in Dragon’s Dogma II, focusing on conjuring illusions utilizing the smoke generated by their distinctive weapon, the Censer. These illusions have diverse applications, such as inducing a group of enemies to attack each other or serving as a taunt to redirect their aggression. Moreover, the smoke can be utilized to summon a spectral clone capable of diverting the attention of adversaries. The Warfarer represents another addition to the roster of new vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2. With this class, players have the flexibility to wield any combination of three weapons available in the game. Essentially, this means that your selection of weapons enables you to seamlessly transition between three different vocations of your choosing. As a Warfarer, you have the opportunity to acquire skills from each of the selected weapons or vocations. ORGANIC EXPLORATION IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 The game emphasizes organic exploration by eliminating quest boards and minimizing map markers. NPCs and Pawns play a more active role, approaching players with side quest opportunities and guiding them to points of interest. This approach creates a more immersive and rewarding exploration experience. Dragon's Dogma 2 boasts a colossal open world, approximately four times the size of its predecessor. The world feels dense with encounters, both planned and unexpected, providing a balanced pacing of exploration and action. The map size, combined with limited fast travel options, aims to make players feel the vastness of the world and encourages thoughtful decision-making. RISK AND REWARDS IN DD2 Most of the decisions player take while traveling the world of Dragon's Dogma 2 involve risk and reward. Understanding the intricacies of risks and rewards is crucial for navigating the vast and perilous landscape of this epic adventure. * Traveling: Players can decide to use Ferrystones to travel or venture by other means such as using Oxcarts, or traveling on foot. Ferrystones demand a steep price and, while they allow players to travel risk-free and immediately, their price should be a point of consideration. On the other hand, purchasing the services of an Oxcart is more economical but a moderately risky method of travel. Besides that, their routes are predefined, limiting players' control over their destination. Oxcarts are not exent from being ambushed from creatures. Finally, on foot traveling is the slowest but most cost effective way of travel, and gives players the most freedom regarding the path taken to arrive to their destination. Doing this, however, may lead to unexpected challenges or encounters during the way. * Health Management: The Loss Gauge introduces a new health management mechanic, where each hit diminishes a portion of the maximum health. Players face decisions on whether to press on in a quest line with reduced max health or backtrack to town for resupply. Balancing progress and well-being becomes a strategic consideration. * Exploration: Choosing between well-trodden paths and detours into the unknown adds an additional layer of decision-making. While the beaten path may offer safety, venturing into unexplored territory could lead to hidden treasures, challenges, or unexpected encounters. THE DYNAMIC WORLD OF DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Similar environments are poised to make a return from the previous game, powered by an even stronger game engine with dynamic Physics mechanics. This dynamism is exemplified by the player's surroundings at any given time, the behaviors of different Enemies at any given time, and any nearby NPCs. The Tokyo Game Show reveal shows players able to interact with Enemies more than just mounting them and climbing their backs to dish out unavoidable damage. Players are somehow able to grab the talons of Harpies in order to temporarily use them as a means to glide over some terrain. Players are also able to topple larger Enemies like the Cyclops over a large gap so that they can use them as a bridge to cross, as they try and hang on to the cliffs. Defeating Enemies now isn't just a brute force endeavor as players are able to use the dynamics of the environment to their advantage, such as bursting a damn to flood over or wash away Enemies through the waves. OXCARTS IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 One of the new ways players can traverse and navigate through the new world of Dragon's Dogma 2 is by traveling by Oxcarts. Oxcarts play a significant role as both a mode of transportation and an important storytelling element as part of the game’s immersive world-building. They contribute to the feeling of a vibrant, operational medieval fantasy realm in which commerce and trade form fundamental components of everyday existence. As they serve a functional purpose in the game, they might be visually available in various shapes and sizes, adding variety to the visual landscape of the world. Traveling by Oxcart could even be advantageous for players who have gathered a substantial amount of loot and want to move to specific Locations without feeling the effects of traveling by foot while being overburdened. When availing of the services of an Oxcart, players are able to choose if they would skip through the travel animation by closing their eyes, which effectively turns it into a fast travel feature. Players are warned, however, that even when traveling by Oxcart, the dynamism of the game's world is still at play. One of the ways this is implemented is by ambushes and attacks that can apparently happen as the player travels by Oxcart. Players are shown to have to be able to react accordingly to make sure their travel isn't compromised. There is no further information yet on other uses that the Oxcart feature brings, like allowing NPCs onboard during Escort Quests for quicker travel. It is also unclear as to whether or not this feature is set to completely replace the use of Ferrystones and Portcrystals to fast travel in the game. Nevertheless, the new feature promises to give players better immersion, as well as more opportunities to manage their time in the game. DAY AND NIGHT CYCLE IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 The Day and Night Cycle makes a return in Dragon's Dogma 2. In the previous game, nighttime spells a truly dangerous time for people in the world, and this remains to be true for this sequel. Various stronger Enemies are on the prowl at night, like Skeletons and Zombies, and in large numbers too. This makes for some good grinding for some money and experience, but players can find themselves at a sore disadvantage, and in perilous situations if they tackle the nightlife unprepared. The surroundings are also almost pitch-black at night, even with lanterns to help. The Day and Night Cycle will continuously tick throughout the player's journey, whether they're traveling on foot or choosing to keep their eyes open as they travel through the Oxcart, so players will have to manage their time well and take it into account when planning and executing their adventure. CAMPSITES IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 One way to manage time and maybe stave off the dangers of the night is to set up camp at Campsites. Campsites serve as essential Locations for players to rest and recuperate. Players seem to only be able to set up camp if they have an Item called a Camping Kit. Setting up camp at Campsites has the character and their Pawns undergo a restoration of health, which is indispensable for sustaining their character’s performance throughout their playtime, as they spend the night and allow the Day and Night Cycle to pass. When setting up camp, there is visually a campfire that is set up along with food in a cooking pot over the fires. It is unknown whether there is any new cooking mechanic in this sequel game, that will confer other benefits apart from restoring health. Campsites could also perhaps act as hubs for overseeing the player’s Pawns, through which players can make adjustments to their Pawns' Equipment, inclinations, and Vocations at these sites. This is yet to be seen, however, although players are shown to be able to make small talk with their companions to immerse themselves further in the game’s world. It is also yet unclear as to the general whereabouts of Campsites. It is also unclear whether or not players will be able to set up camp in order to manipulate the in-game time by certain intervals, or if setting up camp will always result in a single night passing, thus resuming the adventure during the day. This could especially be important for Quests that possibly are only progressed at specific times. Nevertheless, being able to camp at Campsites is sure to be advantageous for all players. LOSS GAUGE IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Loss Gauge refers to the health that is temporarily lost due to the damage sustained by the Arisen and Pawns. The Health Bar is represented by the green line directly on top of the Stamina Bar located at the lower center of the interface. The greyed-out portion indicates the Loss Gauge which limits the Health Points of the Arisen, even if you consume food to recover health. Until your party rests, the Health loss will persist. Your party can fully recover the missing health bar by resting at an inn or a campsite. This is a feature that was previously introduced in the original Dragon's Dogma that allowed the passing of time to safely rest and avoid creatures of the night. The loss gauge can also represent how long your party has been in combat and will indicate when it is ideal to rest. DRAGON'S DOGMA 2'S UNIQUE COMBAT SYSTEM Being a fan of action games, Dragon's Dogma Director Hideaki Itsuno hoped to combine the essence of Combat from action games missing from typical RPGs, and the storytelling aspects of RPGs together in Dragon's Dogma. To add to this, Art Director Daigo Ikeno in the Dragon's Dogma 10th anniversary video expressed his observation that many standard action RPGs that introduced giant and epic creatures ended up having Combat systems that only allowed players to hack at the monster's feet. With Dragon's Dogma, they hoped to mix this up and introduce a dynamic combat system. One such mechanic is the use of magic in-game. In Dragon's Dogma, the Arisen's energy is used up based on the power of the spell used. Conjure up a powerful enough spell and the Arisen is left breathless and panting, requiring a few seconds to recover before they can cast another spell. The most noteworthy Combat mechanic, however, is Dragon's Dogma's grabbing and climbing mechanics. Besides just getting to use their weapons on an enemy, the Arisen and their Pawns are able to interact directly with enemies and the environment around them, such as grabbing an explosive barrel to throw at enemies, grappling an enemy to give your allies a chance to land a hard-hitting move, or pushing enemies off of cliffs or other such environmental hazards. Not only can the player character do this, but enemies too. Griffins, Cyclopses, Hydras, and the like will pick the Arisen up to drop them from a height or lock them in place for a devastating move. The Arisen can do this to their Pawns too, though not to the Pawn's benefit. Large monsters and bosses cannot be grabbed or grappled, but instead, they can be climbed on. While climbing on a monster, depending on your vocation, you can send a flurry of dagger strikes or cast a spell onto any of the monster's body parts - the head, torso, second head, and eye - and not just have to slash at the monster's feet. Dragon’s Dogma 2 indeed retains the first game’s unique Combat system, showcasing the player mounting a flying Griffin as they deal damage to it. In addition to AI giving life to the various characters and monsters, using the engine Capcom has been using for the Resident Evil series also makes for a more advanced physics system for the games, by being able to interact with a frail bridge mid-fight, and an even smoother Combat flow. The new engine also allows for more creative and imaginative approaches to defeating Enemies. The dynamism of the environment allows players to interact with it in creative ways to ultimately defeat the foe in front of them. Examples in existing gameplay videos include destroying a dam to flood an enemy and dealing damage to a large foe's legs in order to topple it over a gap, which allows the Arisen and his Pawns to use the foe to cross the gap using the foe as a bridge as it tries its best to hang from the cliff. This immersive physics brings life to the Pawns, Enemies, as well as the NPCs, giving endless exciting possibilities to players. VOCATIONS IN DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Vocations in the world of Dragon's Dogma refer to the classes or jobs that are available for players to choose from for their characters to take up, depending on their preferred playstyle. All Vocations are viable for completing the game with, depending on the player's comfortability with the playstyle they bring to the table. Each Vocation has its own set of Skills, both active and passive, that players will have to learn and manage using. In the previous game, nine Vocations were available and sorted into 3 categories - Basic, Advanced, and Hybrid. The 3 Advanced Vocations represented higher-level playstyles and capabilities that evolved from the 3 Basic Vocations. The 3 Hybrid Vocations on the other hand are combinations of the playstyles of two Vocations, making for a playstyle that features the best of both worlds. In Dragon's Dogma 2, we see some changes in the list of Basic Vocations. Players will have four to choose from to start with instead of three - Archer, Fighter, Mage, and Thief, with Archer and Thief seemingly resulting from a split from just the Strider Vocation in the previous game. Additionally, new Vocations will be joining the selection. The first one is called the Mystic Spearhand. This Vocation highlights the use of both magic and physical melee attacks with a Spear. The Magick Archer is set to also return from the previous game, which is a Vocation that highlights dealing damage from a distance with magickal arrows. There are four recognized Hybrid Vocations: Magick Archer, Mystic Spearhand, Trickster, and Warfarer. These vocations are exclusively available to your Arisen character; they cannot be chosen for any of the Pawns accompanying you. The Mystic Spearhand, although resembling the original game’s Mystic Knight, is a fresh addition to Dragon’s Dogma II. The Magick Archer, on the other hand, is a more specialized class, relying solely on pure magick for attacks, including magickal arrows. The Trickster, another new Hybrid vocation, specializes in creating illusions using the smoke generated by their unique weapon, the Censer. The Warfarer promises to be an incredibly dynamic and versatile vocation. It enables players to adapt their playstyle in real-time, responding to various enemy types, their weaknesses, and changing environments. If you try to change your zoom, or even if you do nothing it stops responding and then comes back with "Wait" or "Exit Page" window. I copy & paste the link into a new tab and it works for a bit and then back to the errors. I'm using standard/updated Chrome with no extensions. I think it has something o do with the ads which are constantly loading, but I can't be sure of course. It's very annoying having to keep switching to a new tab to avoid the errors. Also, at times the colors on the page will simply "invert" such that the background goes transparent or something. I think it cause of some ad loading in the background, then it flips back and hangs up and you have to reload yet another tab. Test it yourself and you'll see. It's worth fixing.
