A Day to be as Humble as the Soil

In December of 2013, the United Nations designated December 5th as World Soil
Day. For those of us who may not be immediately familiar with the significance
of soil, it may be a wonder why countries around the world would commit to a day
to recognize and celebrate something there seems to be no shortage of in the
world today. In fact, it is a simple matter of quality over quantity.

Princess Pa in Vienna – through the lens of a fellow diplomat

Being born a public figure, Princess Pa naturally underwent ‘diplomatic
training’ since birth. Moreover, as a member of the Royal Family, service to her
people and compassion for their trials and tribulations was in her blood. The UN
had already recognised her skills in diplomacy when it named her UN Women
National Ambassador to Thailand in 2008. The successful adoption of the Bangkok
Rules back in 2010 was also in part the result of her appreciation of and skills
in multilateral diplomacy.

Between 2 – 4 February 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy in Amman, in collaboration
with Cozmo, organized a 3-day event under the theme “Essence of Thailand: Thai
Food Experience”, inviting everyone to taste and experience a variety of
exquisite Thai cuisines featuring world famous dishes such as Tom Yum Good, Beef
Massaman Curry, Pad Thai and Bua Loy dessert, freshly prepared by a crew of
talented chefs from the Thai Residence.

Kick off the 2023 workshop and competition event on “Fine Cooking as a Career
Opportunity” for Thai Students in Jordan, organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in
Amman.

H.E. Mr. Supark Prongthura, Ambassador of Thailand to Jordan, inaugurated the
2-day workshop and competition event on ‘Fine Cooking as a Career Opportunity”
for Thai Student in Jordan, during 13-14 January 2023 at the Royal Academy of
Culinary Arts. Seventy Thai Muslim students from universities all over Jordan
attended this workshop and competition during the 2-day event. The programme’s
objective was to provide an opportunity for the attending Thai Muslim students
in Jordan to learn and enhance cooking skills in both Jordanian and Thai
traditional cuisines from Jordanian professional chef and Thai residence chefs,
enhance the students’ capability for future employment, as well as deepening the
ties of friendship among Thai students from various universities in Jordan. The
Workshop was co-organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Amman, the Royal Academy
of Culinary Arts, the Thai Students’ Association in Jordan, and with the
generous support from the Jordan-Thailand Friendship Association (JFTA) and Asia
Market. Stay tuned for a special VDO series of this workshop and competition
which will be broadcasted in February 2023 at the Thai Students’ Association in
Jordan’s Fan page.

On 22 December 2022, H.E. Mr. Supark Prongthura, Ambassador of Thailand to
Jordan, presided over the well-wishing ceremony for the speedy and full recovery
of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati. In addition,
H.E. Mr. Prongthura offered the floral pedestal and signed the well-wishing book
for Her Royal Highness. The event was well attended by the officers, spouses and
staffs of the Royal Thai Embassy.
