As the treasurer of the Beck Girls Club it is way cool to see Raelene get this award. Not to mention that she is probably the best example of how making your job fun is a great way to stay young! Congratulations to a REALLY cool and SUPER classy women. Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments » LAST SOLO FLIGHT May 6, 2010 by scottedog So the 10 days as a solo parent has come to an end! For the most part we all survived and at times even thrived. I have always appreciated my wife’s relationship with the logistical part of parenting, now I am amazed at her ability to keep this thing called dance, school, and life for four girls moving. At times it was all I could do to just follow the daily carpool logostics. To celebrate the girls wanted Settebello, and since we are alive a celebration is certainly in order Pizza it is. Here is to the triumphant return of the President of the Beck Girls Club. Posted in The Youngest | Leave a Comment » YES I CAN! April 29, 2010 by scottedog So the President of the Beck Girl’s Club is out of the country and that means that the treasurer is in charge! A lot of confidence going in to the 10 days as a solo parent and so far so good. I think?? I will say that getting 4 girls off to school in the morning is a lot of hair to deal with. She is now working hard on building her friends. With her usual Gusto she is quickly trying to surpass her two older sisters, and HOUNDING all of her cousins, friends, and even some of her older sisters friends, to add her as a friend. SHE HAS STILL NOT ASKED ME TO BE HER FRIEND?!… Let’s see how desperate she gets! Posted in The Youngest | Leave a Comment » “OH WHAT A NIGHT” September 29, 2009 by scottedog Well homecoming and our daughter’s first “date” has come and gone, and I survived! It was all surreal, hair, dress, the proud mother, the boy coming to the door, I have never felt so OLD… At the same time I have never been so proud. People always look at me cross eyed when I tell them I have four daughters. But based on what I felt and saw in my daughter’s eyes over the weeks of preparation for this evening, and the time spent with her mother getting ready I would take 14 girls! Thanks Miranda for being such a great young lady, and CLEAN YOUR ROOM! Posted in The Girls | Leave a Comment » MIRANDA’S BIRTHDAY December 9, 2008 by scottedog 15 years ago our daughter Miranda was born, it was a special day. Miranda was our second daughter, our first daughter had been born with a very rare genetic disorder (se earlier post), and Miranda’s arrival was highly anticipated. her birth was a joyous occasion. Her impact on our family was even more inspiring. Early in her life she developed a very special bond with her older sister, the one with the genetic syndrome. To the toddler Miranda her older sister was just another small child with whom she could interact, and interact she did. As she grew up she was never ashamed of her sister, she has learned how to feed her sister and is now one of her sister’s closest friends. As she becomes a young women the bond with her sister has not diminished at all. She still feeds her, watches her when we are out for the evening and has introduced her sistger to her friends in such a way that her friends look forward to saying hello to her sister when they are at our home. Miranda is a great dancer, but she is even a better person! Miranda the Ballerina Posted in The Girls | 1 Comment » DANCE DANCE DANCE November 7, 2008 by scottedog Here is a photo taken of our daughter Olivia by her sister (and fellow ballerina) for a project called “Reflections”. Is this a great photo or what! Posted in The Girls | Leave a Comment » THE WISH WAS GRANTED October 29, 2008 by scottedog Having a handicapped daughter can be difficult at times. The reality of what issues/situations are difficult is different than most people assume. Most people think it is the care giving that is the difficult part, actually that is the best part. I have often said that seizures and surgeries are far better than dealing with dating and mean friends! The part that is the most difficult is the not knowing if your handicapped child is happy and knows how much you love them. We just returned from Florida where we went as part of a Make A Wish trip for our oldest daughter. We know we have a happy child, and we definitely know that she knows we love her. Traveling with 5 girls (the handicapped daughter was by far the best traveler) can be daunting. For me as the only male in the family it usually means being a bell boy for the duration of the trip. The most unique thing we experienced this time was the interaction of our daughters. At home our daughters do not spend a lot of time with their handicapped sister, dance schedules, school schedules etc. make it difficult for them to all be together. But for 6 days in Florida they were all together, and it was AMAZING to see how respectful, and kind her sisters were. They were never ashamed embarrassed or even impatient with their older sister. Even though the trip was suppose t be a wish granted for our daughter it was our wish of Hannah knowing how much her sisters love her that was in fact the real gift!
