ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE USB CONTROLLER DRIVER

I was troubleshooting my wireless USB Ethernet adapter and accidentally (or
stupidly) deleted a system32 file. Im not exactly sure what it is but it has
'USB' and .sys in its filename.
After restarting my PC, my USB keyboard and mouse are not working. I think this
is a registry issue since i can still use my keyboard and mouse when accessing
UEFI and when plugging it into my laptop.
I think i can still use the PS/2 port but i wont be able to do so until weekend
coz i need to go out of town for the nearest shop that sells ps/2 peripherals.
Any suggestions for a workaround in dealing with this? I really need my files in
this pc.
My system runs on Windows 7 and has an AMD A10 7860k processor and an Emaxx
mobo. Ultracheap setup used mainly for word and excel tasks.

So, I accidentally uninstalled my USB controllers from Device Manager before
remembering that my computer doesn't have any PS/2 ports. What that means, is
that now when I start up my computer, my mouse and keyboard work fine until
Windows starts, when it suddenly decides that it no longer recognizes them. I
know that it should automatically reinstall the USB Controllers, but instead the
found new hardware window pops up. However, since the USB doesn't work, I've got
a bit of a catch-22 since I can't click the button to have it search for the
driver that will re-install the USB drivers. However, I am able to access the
DOS prompt. As such, I was wondering if there was any way to re-install the USB
Controller from the DOS prompt. Conversely, if there are any other suggestions,
I am very open to them.

May 15, 2014 - When the computer boots up, it should install drivers for common.
Uninstall all USB controllers and then 'check for hardware changes'.
Accidentally deleted audio driver. I accidentally deleted the audio driver. Now
I have an 'x' over the speaker icon and cannot play anything with sound (for
example, music videos). Accidentally deleted an Audio playback device When I was
watching movies on my computer through my HDMI, I accidentally disabled the
device so now the. Aug 26, 2011  I also have a Firewire/USB PCI card attached. I
use the back firewire and USB slots for editing software and hard drives and the
front USB slots is where I keep my dongle and I use the usb and firewire for
other devices such as drives, usk sticks, cameras etc.

you can easily repair ur problem by repairing ur os from startup,go to ur bios
setup,(a must ask Q,what os are u runing on ur system?,if xp easy work wit)use
ur xp cd choose repair option,to perform the repair auto,reply if other help
needed.chao

I have the XP restore CD that came with my computer and it has the repair
option. What exactly do I do after I choose the repair option?

I've not been able to find in the Manuals and Support pages a discussion of how
to use the repair option to add a device.

RBFWeezer, I don't understand something. You say the Found New Hardware wizard
pops up. What has it found? The USB Root Hubs or Host Controllers? I would
expect the wizard to reinstall those hubs and controllers.

Well yes, the wizard would normally reinstall those hubs and controllers. The
issue is that, because windows does not recognize my USB keyboard/mouse I can't
even click the Next button to start the reinstall and the wizard doesn't
automatically run. I was hoping that it would be possible to run the wizard or
manually reinstall the USB Root Hubs/Host Controllers from the DOS prompt.

What 'DOS' prompt are you able to access? Can you boot into Safe Mode with the
keyboard and/or mouse working? Miranda cosgrove bam mp3 download.

It's the DOS prompt that I get when I boot into repair mode with my XP CD in.
When I load up safe mode, once Windows starts up, the computer stops recognizing
the USB keyboard/mouse just like when booting into regular mode.

Hmm. What about using the Recovery Console to do a System Restore back to before
the USB controllers were removed?

Well, that link is just a list of all documentation for the XPS 400. I couldn't
find the particular document that discussed the Recovery Console.

Restore from the Recovery Console.

RBFWeezer, sorry but I was thinking in Vista instead of XP. The Recovery
Environment in Vista easily allows a system restore. The XP Recovery Console, I
believe, just presents a command prompt. I did find this KB article about
restoring a system from XP Recovery Console. I don't know if that will work for
you.

Otherwise, you seem to be in a Catch 22 situation. Without a keyboard and mouse,
you can't load the USB drivers to talk to the keyboard and mouse.
