GIVING BACK
Home » Giving Back
Over the past 16 years, Thomsen Homes has been proud to build quality homes for
individuals and families to call home. We are grateful for all of those who have
trusted us to make their dreams come true and we have a passion to make a
difference in the lives of not only our homebuyers, but for all those in the
various communities we serve. Part of the reason we love building houses is that
we have a passion for enriching the lives of those we interact with, and one way
we can do that is by giving back. Chris Thomsen, CEO and Founder, has identified
three key areas that aligned with our company core values to focus on our
mission to "GIVE BACK!"
VOLUNTEERING
Thomsen Homes encourages all employees to donate 20 hours of their time to those
projects identified by the company and also those that they choose based on
their personal passions. This year volunteer time included putting together
floral arrangements at Hope Blooms and also delivering a whole bunch to peoples'
doorsteps on May Day. We also participated in the 2021 Habitat For Humanity CEO
Build. We always have a blast when we're out helping our community!
UNCERTAIN TIMES: COVID 2020
On March 21st 2020, Thomsen Homes launched a give back initiative to help
alleviate some financial instabilities due to COVID-19. The initiative, which
was originally set for $50,000, was to be given to those different individuals,
businesses, and organizations that had been affected by the pandemic. Thomsen
Homes had taken to social media to request nominations from the community and
asked our social following to submit their recommendations on who should be
nominated for the relief fund. The response to the give back initiative took
off, and we sought out other businesses that wanted to help, in the hopes of
making a greater impact. Through the generous donation of almost $60,000 from
ten other businesses, along with Thomsen's 50% additional match, the total
impact reached $139,000.
The 30 recipients spanned from non-profit organizations, small businesses, and
individuals in the F-M area as well as Grand Forks. We worked closely with FM
Area Community Foundation and funds were distributed in mid-April.

Sanden & Thompson Law Firm, Northridge Construction, American Family Insurance
DJ Colter, D&M Industries, All Season's Mechanical and Ferguson.
SHELTER
Thomsen Homes was a proud sponsor of Habitat for Humanity's Hero 2017 Build in
honor of Officer Jason Moszer, 2019's Dakota Blitz Project and 2021's Corporate
Sponsored Build. Thomsen Homes employees also volunteered time on this build and
look forward to partnering with Habitat for Humanity on future projects. Lake
Agassiz Habitat for Humanity works to build simple, decent, and affordable homes
in partnership with those in need. Stay posted for future plans as we will be
announcing additional housing initiatives in 2020!
FOOD
Thomsen Homes has committed to help provide food for those in our communities
who may need assistance. One in nine people in North Dakota reach out for help
and we are proud to partner with Great Plains Food Bank who work daily to meet
that need. We are currently helping to fund their BackPack Program which is
designed to send food home with children who may not have enough food for
themselves and their families over the weekend or during school breaks.
Elementary schools in our community have up to 75% of students qualifying for
free and reduced meals.
