Wine & Tapas Lounge, and a versatile event space, all housed in a charming
vintage building on the newly renovated Baltimore Street in Cumberland’s
historic district, right in the heart of the Arts & Entertainment District.

Cumberland is renowned for its vibrant arts scene and the stunning natural

The Arcadian is proudly operated by Christina Elson and Christopher Sloan. We’re
passionate about contributing to Cumberland’s dynamic community and honored to
establish our business in the former home and studio of the talented artist
Chayo Chevez and her adventurous husband, Bob. We deeply appreciate the support

Welcome to the Arcadian Oasis, an elegant lounge located on the second floor of
47 Baltimore Street. Designed to transport you to a peaceful, relaxing space
inspired by the natural beauty of our rural surroundings, the Arcadian Oasis
embodies the true meaning of "Arcadian."

At the heart of the lounge is a stunning bar, crafted by local fine
furniture-maker Arnold d'Epagnier, featuring a remarkable 14-foot-long ash
plank. The decor is warm and inviting, reflecting the tranquility of nature.
Indulge in our carefully curated selection of Spanish wines and expertly crafted
cocktails, perfectly paired with a menu of authentic tapas made from the
freshest local produce.

The Arcadian Oasis Wine & Tapas Lounge is not just a place to unwind—it's also
available for special events, offering a unique and memorable setting for your

No visit to Western Maryland is complete without experiencing our breathtaking
outdoor activities. From biking, hiking, and kayaking to paddle-boarding,
tubing, hunting, fishing, and even soaring through the skies, the options are
endless. The C&O Towpath Trail from Washington, D.C. and the Great Allegany
Passage from Pittsburgh converge at a point less than 100 yards from The
Arcadian. You can also ride a historic steam locomotive or explore the rails on

The Arcadian Gallery, known for its stunning nature-themed art and international
exhibitions, is just one facet of the vibrant arts ecosystem flourishing in
Cumberland and its surrounding areas. Explore other local galleries showcasing

for every taste—from baroque music and the iconic Delfest bluegrass festival,
which draws 10,000 attendees, to Appalachian tunes and Punk Rock festivals.

Cumberland's rich theatrical offerings are equally diverse, with two
theaters—one conveniently located next door to The Arcadian—presenting
everything from Broadway musicals and Shakespeare to drag burlesque shows,
theater in the park, and film festivals. No matter your artistic or musical
preference, Cumberland has something to inspire and entertain you.

Explore Cumberland: A Historic Crossroads of American History

For history enthusiasts, Cumberland is a must-visit destination, steeped in rich
history as a gateway to the West. In the late 1700s, a young George Washington
arrived here to survey the land and deliver a message to the French at Fort
Duquesne (now Pittsburgh), sparking the French and Indian War. Fort Cumberland,
established by General Edward Braddock, stood just 100 yards from where The
Arcadian is now, marking the starting point of his ill-fated march against the
French.

The terminus of the historic C&O Canal, located at the Canal Place Heritage
Area—the first designated heritage area in Maryland—is also just a stone's throw
from The Arcadian. In the early 1800s, Cumberland became the launching point for
the construction of the National Road to Wheeling, WV, under President
Jefferson's administration. The beginnings of this historic road lie within 100
yards of our location.

The Allegany Museum, one of the finest small museums in the U.S., is just steps
away from The Arcadian, and offers deep insights into the region's storied past
through its exhibits. Among its displays are covered wagons, carriages, and
cars; artifacts from the historic B&O railroad; a model of Fort Cumberland; and
fossil bones from Maryland's famous Bone Cave, which lies two miles north of The
Arcadian along the GAP trail.

Cumberland's downtown and nearby Washington Street are also overflowing with
history. The streets are dotted with architectural treasures from the city's
golden era as Maryland's Queen City. The Arcadian itself, with its chrome and
mirrored boutique facade, is a nod to this rich architectural heritage.

pivotal role this city played in shaping our nation. And while you're here,
