From my research while I was waiting on my machine to arrive, I came up with a plan: All the things facial. First thing is to setup machine and get all supplies ready. I have distilled water in all the machine bottles. I want to get the hang of the machine before using any expensive products. I chose Neutrogena Stubborn Blackheads Daily Serum to pre-treat my worst gunk filled areas. Instead of using a traditional conductive gel for the ultrasound handle, I opted for vegetable glycerine. First thing I did was a light exfoliating peel. I used Styave Dermawhite Exfoliating Gel and Neutralising Foam Cleanser. I may try The Ordinary’s AHA + BHA Exfoliating Peeling Solution the next Hydrafacial I do. I cleansed all parts of the machine that will touch my face and gave my face a spritz with hypochlorous spray. Then I applied the blackhead serum to silky gauze and placed on my trouble spots. My goal for this is to loosen the hardened outer blackhead cap to aid the machine in dislodging it and then being able to suck out all the gunk. I decided not to use steam for this facial but will for all future Hydrafacials. Figuring out which tip to use with the hydra handle is trial and error. I did not like the spiral tips. I felt like there was a lot of fluid loss. I’m glad I used only water for this first use. I ended up using the plain circle medium sized tip. I will need to experiment with all the tips and see which ones I like best. I started with medium water and medium suction settings. The suction is powerful. I learned not to go over the same spot more than 2-3 times. Overuse of the hydra handle will cause hickey like bruising. The minor bruising and redness I had from the facial was completely gone by the next day. I will need to be mindful of not looking like I lost a fight with my vacuum cleaner in the future. 😂 I also need to remember to empty the discard bottle before a facial. Was cool to look at all the gunk floating in the bottle at the end of the facial. On to the facial. I removed the gauze and used the hydra handle all over my face. Then I used the scraper. This handle was a surprise favorite of the entire experience. The amount of yucky gunk that came out of my face using this tool was astounding. I could see white gunk literally pop out of my skin. The ultrasonic vibration and a bit of pressure really make your pores purge. I found the scraper glided easier when my face was moist so i reapplied distilled water regularly while using it. After using the scraper, I used the hydra handle one last time. I figured anything the scraper missed was likely loosened enough that the hydra suction would now grab it. I was pleased to see the impressive amount of gunk in the discard bottle after this round. I used the other handles but honestly do not know what I’m doing with them. I need to do more research before using any of them again. I plan to use the hydra handle and scraper weekly. My pores looked like empty craters immediately after the facial. The several days following I think my pores looked smaller than normal but then slowly filled with sebum again. I have hope with good skin care routine and weekly hydrafacials I may reduce my pores and have smoother skin. In this recurring segment, I will parley with my skin, provide up-close pictures to track my progress (or lack thereof) and give an update on various topics. Current state of skin … TERRIBLE! Issues: turkey gobbler neck, sagging marionettes and jowls, texture, uneven tone including melasma, giant eye-bags, falling fat pads in corner above eyes, sagging eyelids, crows feet, eye socket scar, receding hairline. Treatments since last Parley: Nothing! I took a treatment break in May. Partly cause life can be crazy busy, partly cause I was doing a lot of blog building & writing, but mostly cause I introduced like 7 new topical products at the same time and my skin decided to commit mutiny. Now I must wait for calmer skin; introduce each new product separately so I can find and make the mutinous turncoat walk the plank. Weight loss: 4.2 lbs in May! For a total of 78 lbs gone since Jan ‘22. Crew member of the Month: Zoe Share: Labels: PirateBaby INTRODUCTION TO SKINCARE BUCCANEER May 17, 2024 JUMP TO VIDEO HELLO, BUCCANEERS! Welcome to my pirate hideout and the maiden voyage of Skincare Buccaneer. In this post, I’ll regale ye with tales of me pirate MedSpa, unveil the treasures hidden within, and introduce ye to the fierce guardians of me secret lair! So grab your treasure maps and let’s set sail! Why both a blog and vlog? I enjoy doing both. Writing has always been a passion of mine. I also learn best by reading about something, seeing it done, then doing it myself. So, it feels natural for me to write out what i want to do, then video it. I thought why not post the write out for others. So, choose the medium you prefer, blog or video, they are roughly the same, and let’s get started. To recount how I ended up here would demand a set of books as lengthy as Harry Potter. Suffice it to say, through therapy and the devotion of an incredible man, I’ve learned my worthiness of love. About two years ago, I started to actually believe that self-care matters and I am worthy of it. My weight loss journey began with Semaglutide. I’ve switched to Tirzepatide since. As of now, I’m 75lbs lighter. Somewhere around 50lbs lost, I realized loose skin was making me look a million years old. I started looking for ways to beat gravity. Once I tried a few services at a local spa, I became addicted to MedSpa treatments. Microneedling, peels, hydrafacials, you name it; I wanted them all. Oh boy, was that adding up. I decided microneedling had to be doable myself. Searching for “diy microneedling” was my introduction to the MedSpa diy world. I fell down the rabbit hole face first. I devoured every bit of information I could, video, blog, and textbook. I remember saying to someone when this journey began, “Injecting Botox into myself? No way, that takes some serious courage, or maybe just insanity.” It wasn’t too long before I realized I’ve got a bit of both. I was so afraid to do my first diy treatment. I spent weeks consuming every bit of information about microneedling I could find. Watched hours of videos, read blogs and even textbooks meant for professionals. When I finally mustered up the courage, it was so easy and not near as painful as I expected. I was a little ticked at myself for letting fear rule. As I found community around my new hobby, I shared my new fearlessness by making a few YouTube videos. Reviews were mostly positive, and I discovered I find joy in creating content. So here I am. Let me briefly touch on my vision for this endeavor. I am not an influencer. It is not my intention to influence anyone to do anything. I will not be talking about overseas product suppliers at all. I have confidence in your googling skills to find products and score a discount code. That’s not why I’m here. I’m here to share my journey of battling time and gravity. To not be called a hypocrite down the road, here are the revenue ideas I do have. I am thinking about improving the pages I made for my personal beauty binder and selling it as a pdf. If my channel meets the requirements, I will enable ads on my videos. It’s possible that I will incorporate affiliate links from well-known sources like Amazon for products I use. I have no interest in pursuing any other money-making ventures. If a company wants to send me a free product to review, I’m all for it. Pirates love free stuff! I’ll be transparent with my audience about receiving items. My review will be brutally honest. I’m an over opinionated southern woman and that will never change. With all that said... It’s time to get this pirate party started. I HOPE YOU FIND MY MISADVENTURES ENTERTAINING. Welcome to Buccaneer Hideaway, my secluded hideout. This is where I gather to plan my skincare raids, shove all manner of needles and products into my face, and keep my treasures hidden. One of my favorite parts of my bathroom is the open space in the middle that called out for a large sitting stool. It reminds me of the golden age of Hollywood women’s powder rooms. It’s a lovely spot to sit and have a break before going back out to face the world. No tour would be complete without a peak at the MedSpa cabinet. Here is where I hide all my treasures. I have my skin boosters, BB Glow, polynucleotides, Miracle products, hair dye & hair straightener, beauty devices, peptide supplies and more. This is my custom-made vial box holder I bought from Pep Pods, a while ago. They did a great job going back and forth with me to design what I wanted. I use it to store my injectable stuff that doesn’t need refrigeration, such as lidocaine, opened skin booster vials like velatox and curenex, and any overflow vials. This is my Tox Box. It’s just so adorable I couldn’t pass it up. I got it from KC By Carrico. Normally kept in the fridge, but I’m out of tox right now. I use a small baking tray from Walmart and these little buckets I found at Home Goods when I’m getting ready for a treatment. I gather the supplies for each thing I plan on doing in its own bucket, reducing how many times I have to come back to the cabinet. Though I always forget stuff. I must introduce the fierce creatures that guard my pirate lair. My two gorgeous yet deadly kitties. Don’t let their reputation as cuddly gentle giants fool you… Should anyone try to enter Buccaneer Hideaway, Ms. Zoe will turn them into her brush slave and Floki will run and hide 😂. Ms. Zoe is the girliest cat ever. She LOVES to be groomed. She can be called from anywhere in the house, even from a deep kitty slumber, by the sounds of her brush bristles being flicked. I can open the front door with her right next to it and she will not go out of it. Instead, she licks her paw and rubs it across her face, looking at me as if to say, “I’m not going out there… It’s dirty.” Floki, my menacing looking Viking kitty, is… the biggest scaredy cat you will ever see. He will hide from strangers, vacuums, and all manner of unexpected things. When not hiding, my beautiful boy can murder with one look. His gaze is a bit terrifying. Unlike Ms. Zoe, Floki detests being brushed. I have a puppy as well. She is 15 years young and sleeps more than the cats these days. She is a good girl. If you have any suggestions for topics, feedback, or questions, you can use the contact form here, YouTube comments or message me on any social media you see PirateBaby. Fare thee well, me hearties! May yer lidocaine be potent, and yer needles be sharp. Stay fearless, stay fabulous.
