This Parquet Viewer can be used online and it can also be downloaded. If your
browser supports downloading this Parquet Viewer then there will be an install
button at the top of this page. Just click that and the Parquet Viewer will
download.


WHAT APP OPENS PARQUET FILES

Parquet files are usually opened by developers writing code and not much
software lets you open them on your computer directly. You can use this Parquet
Viewer to open a Parquet file.

If you install Parquet Data by clicking the "Install" button at the top of the
page then you can open Parquet files from your computer by double-clicking them.


HOW TO EDIT A PARQUET FILE

 1. Convert Parquet to Excel
 2. Open the file in Google Sheets, Excel, or Open Office
 3. Make the edits
 4. Save as CSV
 5. Convert CSV to Parquet


IS PARQUET FILE READABLE

Parquet files are readable. Parquet files are binary, which means they can only
be read with specific software. You can use this Parquet Viewer to view the
contents of your Parquet file. Or you can explore the data.


IS A PARQUET FILE A JSON FILE

Parquet files are a different format to JSON. Compared to JSON, Parquet files:

 * are stored as binary data
 * cannot be read without special software
 * compress much better than JSON files
 * are much faster to analyze because they use a columnar storage format

JSON files can be opened without special software because they are stored in
ascii plaintext. Parquet files require special software.

You can use this Parquet Viewer to open and view your Parquet files. If you
install the desktop app then you can open Parquet files from your desktop by
double clicking them.


CAN EXCEL OPEN A PARQUET FILE

Excel cannot open a Parquet file. But you can convert a Parquet file to Excel
using the Parquet to Excel Converter and then open it in Excel.


IS PARQUET MACHINE READABLE

Parquet files are machine readable. They are not human readable. You can read a
Parquet file using the Parquet Viewer at the top of this page.

a limited time.

1. Install the Parquet Data Google Workspace App

2. Upload your parquet files to Google Drive

Open Google Drive

3. Double click your Parquet file in Google Drive

4. Click "Open with Parquet Data" at the top of the page to open it.

Yip, I am not charging for datasets opened from Google Drive. The Google
Workspace app is not perfect yet, so I don't want to charge for it.

I will start charging for datasets opened from Drive in the future. But it will
remain free for people that start using Parquet Data from Google Drive before I
start charging.
