Tier Changes - Aelia Decommission

Following Discord's and YouTube's actions on several large music bots, the team
have decided to put an end to Aelia's services.

Just to be clear, YouTube is acting only on those bots that charge money in
exchange of features using the YouTube API, which includes both bots with
paywalled music features, or bots that are locked behind a payment, such as
Aelia is.

Skyra's music module will continue working in the foreseeable future as she's a
fully free Discord bot without paywalled features. Skyra lives thanks to the
donations from generous people, and we hope we can continue that way ❤

Two weeks ago, I changed the tiers, removing the "Aelia Access" perk and
replacing with many other perks. The new ones are more accurate with what we
actually give, and should give good insight of what you actually get.

In fairness, Aelia has been in a limbo, and as such, a poll was created
mentioning all the members of the +5$ tier in the official Discord server, to
choose between the following options:

 * 1: Decommission Aelia, all other bots will continue working, we will need to
   search for other perks and honestly we're clueless atm.
 * 2: Update Aelia to be on par with Skyra, and make her free.
   This has a potential issue: if Aelia grows a lot and doesn't generate enough
   income, we'll be unable to host her. If we decide to do this, we'll need to
   pick between four options:
   • 2.1: Use Skyra's audio module as-is.
   • 2.2: Use Skyra's audio module with a few experimental features and possibly
   new features.
   • 2.3: Use a "stable" version of Skyra's audio module, and update a lot less
   frequently.
   • 2.4: Build a dedicated system to make her scale in a way Skyra can't (due
   to other modules not being compatible with it).
 * 3: Repurpose her into a different bot, what should she do?
 * 4: Keep her as-is (maybe update as well) and lock to partners and sponsors,
   they help Skyra Project grow so it's more of a support gift than a "get the
   bot for a monetary membership", which is fine per YouTube's terms.

The vote ended in favour for the option number 1, since it allows us to dedicate
more time and resources to Skyra. In exchange of this perk, +5$ donors will now
get:

 * High Priority support.
 * Server setup.

I apologise if this announcement is too sudden, hopefully no harm was made since
a vote was made beforehand. I also acknowledge this post might be long, but I
wanted to keep full transparency on how we chose this action.

Skyra VI - The Future

Hello there! I hope you're doing well!




In late 2019, I announced Skyra V, which came with a lot improvements as a
result of a complete infrastructure change. One week ago we started "detaching"
Skyra from the current library, which caused many architectural issues, to a
brand new one, since we'll change over the 60% of Skyra's code, I decided to
call it Skyra VI.




But... what does the new version come with? Good question!

 * Performance upgrades, also now, Skyra will not disconnect when she gets too
   busy, the connection to Discord and the logic she runs are separated and run
   in parallel.
 * Faster start-up time, we're expecting 27-second downtimes to be reduced to
   ~1-2 seconds.
 * Stability upgrades, we have rewritten our database handling to let a very
   robust library handle it for us, this should fix the issues Skyra runs into
   every now and then.
 * Bugfixes! The highlight among most of them is that the giveaways were fixed
   so they don't get stuck anymore!
 * The long-awaited RPG module, this will be available for +5$ donators, though
   that can come either alongside the release, or shortly after.




I'm hyped! What's the release date?

For now we are uncertain, Skyra has somewhere around 48.5k lines of code, we're
3 people working on it and I got caught in exams (last one on 2nd July!), but I
have high expectations that it will be finished by the second half of July,
we'll keep you updated!

Hello there! I'm sorry I'm not keeping Patreon as up-to-date as Discord, so...
let's post today's release ahead of time!




Some developers will take a holiday break for the end of this month, so this
will most likely make this the last update of 2019.





GROWTH




Since 2018, Skyra has joined many servers, raising the numbers from 388 to 1,105
servers, 266,664 to  552,745 users, and from 10,310 to  30,323 channels! As well
as in terms of command usage, last year it had an estimate of 50-100 cpd
(commands per day), versus nowadays' 500-2000, wow! There have been 106,507
commands uses in the last two months, leading to an average of ~1700 cpd.




During 2019, two bots (Ordo and Ribbon) merged into Skyra, the former allowed
Skyra to have a far greater moderation module, with more auto-moderation filters
and a much more enhanced word filter that allowed it to catch thousands of
variations of letters, and additionally we implemented optional Scunthorpe
Problem Injection, which allowed users to unlock the safety checks of them while
catching many variations of words; and the latter implemented many new features
and many new commands, as well as enhanced many existing commands. As of now, I
estimate the Ordo migration is 90% done, and Ribbon migration is 95% done (just
4 commands left!).




And for first time since Skyra 2.1.1 (released in early 2017 until mid 2017),
Skyra now features a fully functional dashboard, it's pretty much beta, but
enhancements are being done on a weekly basis! The video is a release highlight
coming out today!




We also added a new Twitter, feel free to follow @SkyraBot!




For 2020, we have in mind a lot of things, following the completion of Ordo's
and Ribbon's migrations, a finished web dashboard, more auto-moderation systems,
faster start-up times, less bugs, and more features!





CHANGELOG




 * Added Clash of Clans command.
 * Added configurable default volume for music commands.
 * Added configurable maximum song duration, the maximum is 12h and the default
   2h.
 * Added configurable songs per user limits, right now the limits are of a
   donator (250 songs maximum per user), but they will lower to 150.
 * Added configurable stream switch, if disabled, streams (Twitch, YouTube
   Live...) will not queue into the music queue.
 * Released Music v5, this is a major overhaul that fixes a few bugs, and
   implements new features  for the dashboard.
 * Modified the Queue command to show an interactive message embed, instead of a
   plain boring and cluttered message.
 * Fixed Tag command throwing an error when adding or editing a tag that is too
   long.
 * Fixed HigherLower not substracting the money given.
 * Fixed Weather command overflowing the name when they're too long.




> Note: DJs (and also Moderators and Administrators) bypass the maximum duration
> and stream filters.

Skyra 5.0.0 - NEROM (Paradise Edition)

Yesterday, after exactly 2 years 4 months since Skyra was born, I have been
upgraded to version 5.

Over 600 hours of work in 4 months and 27,000 lines of code done since the
previous version, I have every single known bug and every single know error,
fixed.

Some of Skyra's systems were rewritten from scratch (starboard, giveaways...),
some others were released (sticky roles), some others were enhanced (editable
announcements...). And in top of all, I have worked the infrastructure so some
things could go faster, specially the member scores, which saw a large
performance increase.

First of all, I would like to thank all the supporters who allowed me to keep
paying the VPS Skyra is hosted in so she could live longer! I suggest everyone
to join the official server where I post updates as soon as I have any.






COMMANDS

 * Added settings command, far better and easier to use than the old conf
   command. Legacy usage is still allowed. 
 * Added manageAttachments command with a completely new attachment filter
   monitor. + Added history command to check somebody's count of actions. 
 * Re-added the social management command, it was removed somewhere in 2.x-3.x
   but now it's back. 
 * Added star command, get random and stats! 
 * Joined tags and tagmanager into a standalone tag command. 
 * Changed the API the `s!fox` command used. Now it'll only display... foxes,
   and not any other thing that contains "fox" in the name.  





STARBOARD

 * Starboard has been rewritten, but now messages contain a jump-to link!  





MODERATION

 * Added attachment/upload spam monitor. 
 * `s!reason 19..22`, editing multiple moderation logs' cases using a range. 
 * `s!reason latest`, to edit the last moderation log's case. 
 * Fixed ban, unban, and softban, creating duplicated logs.  





BACKENDS

 * Made all RichDisplays cancel if other was opened. 
 * Reverted per-guild nickname map to global username map. 
 * Squashed even more bugs! 





COMING SOON

 * `s!stickyRoles`  to manage sticky roles (the feature is implemented, the
   command is not). 
 * Twitch implementation. 
 * Even better feedback command! Your voice matters! 
 * Better giveaways module.

Thanks you so much for your support, it wouldn't have been possible with your
help! A new home is coming soon for Skyra and Sneyra, and they will be able to
process a lot more.




The current VPS was a tiny, affordable one, with enough power to run both bots
when they were small, however, they're pretty big now and need more power from
the VPS, and this is why I am upgrading.




The new upgrade allows the music bot, Sneyra, to dedicate more CPU and RAM for
new features, enhancing the experience for +$5 patrons much more.

Hello everyone! I have added a new tier, for $5/month you can get monthly access
to Sneyra! This is an "early" tier since Sneyra is under development and may
present some issues, but in a near future, it'll be pulished, and hopefully,
she'll use a brand new library for music encoding which will allow volume
changes again very soon!




I have also noticed some new features in Patreon, and edited the tiers for them.




And finally, I have added charge upfront for new patrons, this is made to
protect myself and other patrons from scammers, this allows me to grant the tier
perks instantly after a donation instead of waiting for a whole month!
