WEEKLY ONLINE SUPPORT GROUPS FOR MEN WHO WERE SEXUALLY ABUSED OR ASSAULTED

 

Confidential, Anonymous, and Facilitated by a Counselor


ABOUT OUR GROUPS

Our online support groups offer support to men in their journeys of trauma
recovery, with a focus on education and mutual support.

Each support group functions just like a chat room: choose an anonymous display
name, enter the group, and start typing. There’s no audio or video, and no
personal information is collected. A counselor is present to facilitate each
session.

The counselor offers information, answers questions, and keeps the discussion on
track. A trained moderator is present to review comments to ensure that each
group remains safe and anonymous.

Groups are cost-free and open to all men who have a computer or smartphone with
an internet connection.

Please note that these online support groups are designed as support groups, not
group therapy. The facilitator’s presence is not intended to provide an
experience that would replace or substitute for regular group or individual
therapy. We encourage online support group participants to access therapy with a
licensed clinician whenever possible.

We encourage you to choose one group and attend regularly to establish a sense
of safety and consistency within the group.

*We have recently merged with our new parent company, Zero Abuse Project, a
501(c)(3) organization committed to transforming institutions in order to
effectively prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse. We will
continue our usual Support Group Chats uninterrupted.


HOW TO JOIN

Find the group that best fits with your schedule. Click on the corresponding
button for that group when it’s time. Each group opens 10 minutes prior to its
start time and reaches capacity at 10 participants. If you are one of the first
10 participants to join, you will be placed in a waiting room until the
moderator opens the session.

 * Participants must be at least 18 years of age and identify as a man who has
   had an unwanted sexual experience.
 * These groups are not intended to provide an experience that would replace
   regular therapy.

By joining a group, you are agreeing to the terms of service and privacy policy.

Free and anonymous chat-based support groups for male survivors of sexual abuse
or assault who are seeking a community of support. Each group meets weekly and
is facilitated by a counselor.

No discussion online at the moment.
*All Fields are required.

Please enter an anonymous display name. If you'd like to reserve this name for
future groups (recommended), please also enter a PIN. To use your display name
from a previous group, enter both the display name *and* the corresponding PIN.

Support Group Ground Rules

 1.  We start on time and end on time.
 2.  We commit for the full program.
 3.  We commit to confidentiality. Who we see here, what we see here, let it
     stay here. We recognize the counselors have legal limits to the
     confidentiality.
 4.  We will be here sober.
 5.  Please participate! Group sessions are only productive if participants
     share and talk with one another.
 6.  We will use talk (chat) time responsibly.
 7.  We will honor each other’s process, i.e. we are tolerant of each other’s
     pace of learning.
 8.  We have the right to pass.
 9.  We will provide constructive feedback to each other. We will do this by
     relating to our own experiences and by using “I” statements.
 10. No personally identifying information is to be shared with other
     participants. This includes names, emails, phone numbers, etc.
 11. We will not have financial or sexual relationships with other members of
     the group.
 12. We will report back to the facilitator any attempts to share private
     information between group members outside of the group.
 13. Please refrain from using abusive or inappropriate language.
 14. This online support group does not provide psychological or mental health
     services. Please do not use the online support group as a substitute for
     professional mental health care.

Group administrators may edit your posts (or prevent them from being posted) if
they are in violation of the above. In the event your post is edited you will be
told which ground rule was violated. If you continue to violate the ground rules
listed above the administrator may remove you from the session.
