ONLINE SHOPPING 101 – TIPS & TRICKS WHEN SHOPPING ONLINE

Posted on January 4, 2017January 4, 2017 by admin

These days almost everyone does it, whether it’s a big or small purchase. But,
not every website is safe or user-friendly. In this post I will discuss a few
tips and tricks for online shopping!

Websites like H&M, Asos and Amazon are reliable web shops that sell as
advertised. Unfortunately, there are also websites that are less reliable, but
this often involves the seller. On web shops like Ebay and iOffer the
reliability depends on the sellers. Here some tips that you can apply on your
online shopping.

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR ONLINE SHOPPING

 * Read reviews about the web shop, product or seller that you are buying from;
 * Check the seller’s ratings and reviews to see what other customers’
   experiences are like;
 * Read the advertisements carefully! Details about shipping duration and costs
are sometimes hidden. Shipping costs can be just as high as the product you
   buy, so read carefully;
 * Read the regulations from the web shop you are ordering on, they might tell
   you what to do when something goes wrong;
 * Pay via PayPal if possible, with PayPal you can get a refund. You can read
   about their policy here;
 * Wait. It can take a while for your order to arrive! Wait till your shipping
time is “over”. When your shipment has not come in, contact the seller and if
   that doesn’t work out, try to get a refund;
 * If it is your first time ordering from a certain web shop or seller, don’t
buy too much! Also, don’t buy something you think is slightly too expensive.
Give yourself a price limit for products. This way you will hopefully not
   disappoint yourself that much when the article is not as expected;
 * Take into account that the size charts are totally different. Study them
carefully before your order your size S, because it might be a lot smaller
   considering the Asian size charts!

These are some things I like to keep in mind when shopping, to prevent myself
from buying things I end up not liking (or need!). I hope these tips and tricks
are helpful for you. Please let me know what you think, and of course happy
(online) shopping!

CITY TRIP TO BARCELONA – THROWBACK THURSDAY

Posted on November 21, 2016November 21, 2016 by admin

My favourite city is definitely Barcelona. In January I went there on a city
trip and absolutely fell in love with the beautiful city. The food, buildings,
atmosphere and people are wonderful. Next to that, the stores were amazing,
and I hope to go back there some day soon. Scroll down to read more and see some
pictures!

We wanted the 5-day trip to be low budget so we could spend more money on food
and shopping. We ended up booking a hotel in the Gràcia district, after checking
what the public transport was like. Staying in a hotel that is not located in
the centre can help save some money that you can then spend on sightseeing.
Gràcia is located outside the centre of Barcelona, but public transport is
affordable and easy to use. Walking is also an option, which enables you to see
even more of this beautiful city!

MONEY SAVING TIPS FOR A CITY TRIP:

 * Is there no transfer between the airport and the hotel? Use the bus service
Aerobus: it’s easy, fast and a lot cheaper than a taxi…
 * Book a hotel in one of the districts that is not actually in the centre and
use the metro or walk. This way you will not only save money on your hotel,
you will also be able to see more of city!
 * Search for musea that have free entrance on certain days. This helps save you
money and is a great way of exploring the city.
 * Make plans before your trip: this way you will have more time for
   sightseeing.

DURING A CITY TRIP TO BARCELONA, DEFINITELY VISIT:

 * Sagrada Familia: It’s a must to visit the Sagrada Familia!
 * Park Güell: Take a walk in the park and enjoy the nature, as well as the
architectual style of the park. Maybe you get lost, like I did, but as a
result you get to see more of the beautiful city!
 * La Rambla: Check out Rambla de Mar and the mall Maremagnum: stop till you
drop! Hence the multiple layers on the way back… too much shopping!
 * Montjuïc: Great view! Also: don’t forget the Magic Fountain Show, but check
(here) to see their maintainance schedule.
 * La Barceloneta: Go to the beach for some fresh air and walk your way back to
La Rambla. The small streets are ideal for some additional sightseeing next
   to your ordinary sightseeing.

What’s your favourite city? Please let me know in the comments!

YOUTUBERS YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW – FASHION EDITION

Posted on November 1, 2016November 21, 2016 by admin

In this post I will tell you a little bit about the youtubers I like to follow.
Personally, I don’t use YouTube to post videos, but I enjoy watching videos of
others. This is my personal (short) list with recommendations!

Enjoy?

No, I love watching youtube videos, especially the ones containing fashion and
interior related content. I don’t often find ‘new’ youtubers to follow, but when
I do, they have great videos and personalities! Handbag videos are the type of
videos I watch the most, and MelSoldera’s channel is – in my opinion – the best
handbag channel. I enjoy watching her videos, even though I cannot afford most
of the bags she shows. Also, as of recent I have been obsessed with Lydia Elise
Millen. I love her videos; her style is great, her content is very consistent,
and overall her videos are just pure serenity.

Down below is a list of my favourite youtubers that I like to follow. First of
all, I follow these youtubers because I love their content. Secondly, their
editing is on point (yay!), which is very important to me. Most of them mainly
focus on fashion, but recently I have been enjoying their vlogs as well.  You
can find their channels (and blogs) down below. You should definitely check them
out!

YOUTUBERS

MelSoldera – COCKTAILS AND LUXURY

Lydia Elise Millen – Lydia Elise Millen (blog)

Claire Marshall – heyclaire

MUSTHAVE FASHION FOR AUTUMN/WINTER 2016

Posted on October 7, 2016November 21, 2016 by admin

It’s autumn! Which means it’s almost winter… Here are 9 musthaves I think you
should have for this season. Scroll down to see what I’m talking about and where
you can get these musthave products (click on the picture to go to the product’s
webpage).

MUSTHAVE #1: BLACK BLOUSE

Any black blouse will do, but having one with great detailing, such as a big
bow, or a beautiful satin (or even silk) fabric makes your outfit look even more
expensive.

MUSTHAVE #2: RUFFELED BLOUSE

As soon as the weather gets colder, I tend to wear all black outfits, which is
probably something I’m known for. This ruffled blouse is ideal to add a lighter
colour to your outfit, and the ruffles with lace up details add a romantic
touch. Add this blouse to a pair of comfortable jeans to dress it down, or wear
it with a leather pencil skirt of chique look.

MUSTHAVE #3: SIMPLE BLUE SKINNY JEANS

A pair of comfy, blue skinny jeans are not only comfortable to wear, but also
easy to style. Therefore you can style them up or down, for any occasion.

MUSTHAVE #4: BODY “BLOUSE”

This body looks like a blouse, which makes it very comfortable and makes sure
you stay warm during the colder days. Because the design of the blouse is
simple, you can easily style this with other pieces in your wardrobe.

MUSTHAVE #5: BLACK HANDBAG

A black handbag fits any outfit, and this particular bag is great to use for
uni, work or any other reason, really! It fit’s smaller laptops and still keeps
enough space left for other items. And of course it looks perfect with most
outfits.

MUSTHAVE #6: GREYISH/BLACK TURTLENECK

When it gets colder, this turtleneck is a necessity. Not only is it comfortable
and warm, it’s also very stylish and combined with a nice pair of shoes very
chique! Therefore a must for your wardrobe!

MUSTHAVE #7: BLACK OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

Definitely a must for this season. They are warm, chique and most of all, easy
to style. They can be dressed up or down, depending on the look you’re going for
and you can get them at a variety of price ranges.

MUSTHAVE #8: BLACK JUMPSUIT

A jumpsuit is something less common, however, not less stylish. By integrating a
black jumpsuit in your wardrobe you take your wardrobe up to a next level. Add a
blouse, and you’re done!

MUSTHAVE #9: CAMEL COAT

Definitely a necessity: a coat. A camel coat can change your entire outfit,
especially when you’re wearing an all-black outfit. It doesn’t just look good –
it also keeps you warm.

TIPS TO SAVE MONEY – 10 MONEY SAVING HACKS

Posted on October 5, 2016November 21, 2016 by admin

As a student – and shopaholic – it’s important for me to make sure I actually
save money for the future, and not just for that wonderful handbag I’ve been
eyeing for months. In this post you can find some tips and tricks on how to save
money.

To ensure that I don’t make unnecessary purchases, ask yourself the following.

TIPS 1-5: SHOPPING HABITS

1. Try to minimise the amount of shopping you do. Groceries once a week, and
shopping when necessary means you’re less likely to buy things you don’t need.

2. Do you actually need it? If you need a wintercoat because your old one is
falling apart, then yes, you don’t want to freeze to death. But, if you have 6
coats in different styles, cuts and colours, then maybe no.

3. Do you love it? Sometimes you’re buying because you’re in the mood. But that
doesn’t mean you’ll actually wear it. Make sure you love the item before you
purchase something, otherwise you’ll regret it later.

4. Take your own food with you. Very Dutch, yet effective. For example, buying
lunch in the canteen can seem cheap, but when you add the small amounts of
purchases at the end of the month, you’ll see you actually spend a ton of money
on food.

5. Is it within your budget? Don’t buy things that you know are too expensive.
If you’ve saved money and can afford it, it’s fine. But if you know your rent is
due at the end of the week, look at your priorities (even though you really like
something)!

TIPS 6-10: SAVING TIPS

6. Keep track of your purchases. Know what you buy, and how much you spend on
it. By paying with card I’m likely to forget how much I’m actually spending,
while when paying with cash I know exactly how much I spent. The advantage of
paying by card is that your purchases are being kept track of, which is
something you have to do for yourself when you use cash.

7. Try paying with cash. I know this seems annoying, but when you give yourself,
let’s say a 50 euro/dollar bill, you’ll see immediately how much you spend
during the day/week.

8. Try selling stuff you no longer want. Many items are easy to sell, think
about furniture, clothing, but also technical stuff, such as your old phone.

9. Don’t spend your money immediately. When your paycheck comes in, or when you
get money from your birthday, keep it somewhere safe so you’re less likely to
spend it the moment you get it.

10. Do allow yourself to buy something nice once in a while, otherwise it will
become hard to stay motivated!

Hope these tips were helpful for you. If you have any tips on how to save money,
please leave a comment below!

BLOGGING… BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH INTOTRENDS?

Posted on October 2, 2016November 21, 2016 by admin

Starting a blog seems so easy… yet I’ve tried it a few times, posted a few
posts, and I did not succeed. My conclusion: blogging is harder than it seems.

Why? I have no clue. I love blogs, I like learning how to build my own, but I
guess writing an actual blogpost isn’t as easy as it seems.

Nearly 3 years ago a friend of mine (let’s call her A. for now) and I started a
blog. We thought we could do it together and challenge and stimulate each other,
and initially really liked it! Unfortunately, school and work got in the way and
we both couldn’t find time to blog.

And then there was a second problem… what to blog about? There are so many
things I’m genuinely interested in, especially fashion and interior. So there
you go, (one would think) something to blog about! And yes, often I think “How
hard can it be?”…

THIS HARD

Because it took me two years to post an actual update. So here I am, back
hopefully. Planning on posting blogposts about fashion and interior, and hoping
– that this time – it actually lasts.

P.s. If you came this far, and have tips for me on how to maintain blogging,
please leave a comment below, it means a lot to me!
