I am a visual artist originally from Poughkeepsie New York, passionate about
hand thrown ceramic pottery

I have a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the college at Brockport with a
minor in Psychology and a specialization in ceramics. I enjoy stoneware that Is
smooth and soft to the touch, void of grittiness. For me, my medium is also my
therapy, and my art is my expression of emotion. I create functional items that
are cozy in your hand and look like they belong in your home. My love for wheel
thrown pottery originated in high school when I took my first pottery course as
an elective. I have always had a love and appreciation for art, doodling since I
was a young child, however after being introduced to clay I discovered a media
that really spoke to me. It takes discipline and patience, something you must
dedicate a lot of your time and energy to master, at every stage of the creative
process it is laborious and physical.
I feel very connected to clay, at the college I attended the clay making process
was one that the ceramic artists there participated in as a group, and it
brought us closer together. I feel as though pottery as an art form is on an
even more personal level with the viewer than any other. The ceramic form is one
than can be held, touched, and used by the viewer. We place mugs and bowls in
our kitchen and bring them to our lips. What could form a better connection
between yourself and the artist than that? This intrigued me and became
something of an outlet. Once it became more than just a hobby, I decided to make
ceramics my career path. I also still enjoy creating pieces in other mediums,
especially photography. My goal is to travel and connect with a community of
ceramic artists worldwide, celebrate the lush and expansive history of ceramic
pottery that dates back thousands of years, and settle into my own unique style
with grace.
