Yet, as hopeful as I am, I am equally troubled by the reality that for too long, individuals with criminal histories like mine have been treated as political pawns, our disenfranchisement a strategy wielded for perceived political gain. PHOENIX DESERVES BETTER The recent article titled “Phoenix really needs federal monitoring of police” is both dangerous and deceitful. While it’s hard to comprehend how someone without any law enforcement experience, in any of the areas discussed, could so boldly write a piece designed to inflame the emotions of our citizens through emotionally laden rhetoric, it certainly is not a surprising tactic. ALTERNATIVE MICRO-SCHOOL FAILS TO MEET ZONING LAWS Tia Howard wanted to start her own micro-school. So, she contracted with a curriculum provider, found a piece of rural residential land, signed a contract and made a $5,000 deposit. But Howard soon found Pinal County’s zoning code does not account for micro-schools.
